My 2 younger boys LOVE to watch Dora the Explorer!  They always get excited when a new “Dora” show comes in the mail for me to review on The Mommy-Files.  We received a fun new DVD called,Dora the Explorer: Explore the Earth.”  This new DVD will be released on Tuesday, April 13th by Nickelodeon and Paramount Home Entertainment.  Included are 4 fun episodes: Mixed Up Seasons, To The South Pole, Save Diego, and Beaches.  The DVD retails for $16.99 and can be found online and in stores.

Dora the Explorer: Explore the Earth! Episode Synopses:

Mixed Up Seasons

It’s summertime, and Dora and Boots are having a blast at the beach. But suddenly, they encounter the strangest sight — a snowman in summer? What’s wrong with this picture? Oh, no! The snowman is going to melt away if they don’t hurry and take him home to winter! Map lays out the way to all four seasons and off they go, rescuing other misplaced creatures along the way: A flower in winter, a Jack-o-Lantern in spring, and a Crab in fall. It’s a colorful adventure across the seasons!

To The South Pole

Rescue Truck arrives at Diego’s Animal Center to deliver a cute, little animal that’s really lost: a penguin!  It’s up to Dora, Boots and Diego to bring Pingüino all the way back home to the South Pole.  They’re off on an epic adventure, traveling by prop plane, expedition boat and snowmobile to reunite Pingüino with his mamá and papá.  Orc! Save Diego

Dora’s cousin Diego protects and defends all the animals in the rainforest. But in order to save a Baby Condor, Diego winds up trapped himself. And now he needs OUR help! ¡No te preocupes, Diego! It’s Dora, Boots and all the rainforest creatures to the rescue!

Beaches

Dora brings Boots a special present, a new floaty that will help him swim.  Boots is thrilled, and they set off for the beach. But first they’ll have to go through the Dune maze (watch out for the crabs!), then fix the broken Boardwalk, and that’s how they’ll get to the beach.

Dora the Explorer, created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh Valdes and Eric Weiner, is a play-along, animated adventure series starring Dora (Caitlin Sanchez).  Dora is a seven-year-old Latina heroine whose adventures take place in an imaginative, tropical world filled with jungles, beaches and rainforests.  She explores her world just as preschoolers do everyday, and the show is designed to actively engage its audience in an interactive quest using a variety of learning techniques.

In every episode, Dora and Boots (Regan Mizrahi) invite the audience to participate in an exciting adventure, where each step of their journey consists of a problem or puzzle that Dora and the audience must think their way through in order to solve the next problem.  Dora is proudly bilingual and uses her knowledge of English and Spanish to communicate with her friends, overcome obstacles and reach her goals.  In each episode, Dora teaches Spanish words or phrases to the viewers and then asks them to use it to solve a problem and forge ahead.  Ultimately, Dora and her best friend, Boots, triumph, and the story always ends with a “We Did It!” anthem.

MY THOUGHTS

My boys really enjoyed watching “Dora the Explorer: Explore the Earth” on DVD.  Even I enjoyed watching it with them.  It’s a great DVD to watch, especially with the celebration of Earth Day right around the corner (April 22nd).  We’re excited to see what Dora is up to next!  Thank you Nickelodeon and Paramount Home Entertainment!
