SodaStream Review & Giveaway

I was thrilled to recently have the opportunity to review a Fountain Jet Starter Kit from SodaStream!  I received the kit before Christmas and had a blast using it with my family.  I even watched an infomercial on it late at night when we stayed at Great Wolf Lodge.  Plus, I spoke to another customer while waiting in line at IKEA one night.  He exclaimed how much he and his family loved it as well!

We don’t buy soda too often in our home because it can add up in cost quickly and takes up a lot of valuable storage space – since we live in an 800 square foot house, we need all the storage space we can get.   However, the Fountain Jet takes up very little space and makes awesome-tasting soda!

I love this commercial about SodaStream and how Mom becomes a Magician!  Not only do you save money on great tasting soda, but you use less bottles, thus saving the world one bottle at a time!

How does SodaStream work?  It’s simple.  You fill up the plastic bottle with tap water up to the FILL LINE.  Then you thread the bottle onto the machine and press until you hear it buzz.  By pressing the button, you are carbonating the water.  The average fizz takes 3 buzzes.  Unthread the bottle and add your favorite tasting syrup.  You can choose up to 18 different flavors.  Or you can drink the water without syrup, just like Sparkling Water!  I love SodaStream and am sure you will too!

  1. I find that is less expensive than purchasing soda the most intriuging. And, what it actually might taste like. We don’t give the kiddos a lot of sodas, but I bet they’d find this fun. Thanks for the giveaway.

  2. The SodaStream sodas contain fewer calories than regular soda. According to their web site: Regular Coke 100 calories; SodaStream Cola 34 calories!! And they contain no high-fructose corn syrup!! I’ve wanted one of these ever since I followed a discussion about them on a cooking forum. Great giveaway!!

  3. I think it is great you can make your own sodas at home for less cost and less calories.

  4. What I find most interesting is that you only use water,so you have little added ingredients and it the system is easy to clean (according to the video on the website). Not only do you get to have the soda mix flavors they offer, but they also have water flavors. And if you like (not my cup of tea) you can even drink just plain carbonated water. I researched this a little more, and some people carbonate their own things, such as juice. The possibilities are large! I also love that you can exchange the cartridges so you are recycling and reusing!

Thank you so much for the wonderful giveaway!

  6. I find it pretty interesting that people still buy cases of seltzer when it’s cheaper and so easy to make (and not have to store) with the sodastream

  7. One SodaStream carbonator makes 60 or 110 liters, equivalent to 170 or 310 aluminum cans! That saves a lot of landfill!

  8. The most interesting thing i found is that this is all done w/ regular water or even filtered/bottled water and you have so many flavors to add! I have wanted one forever and am so intrigued to see how well the flavor mixes with just a few gentle shakes to mix the flavors.

  9. I find it interesting how much bottles can be saved by using the SodaStream. Wonderful for our earth. Thanks so much.

  10. Just the whole concept of making your own soda just by pressing a button is so NEAT!!! It’s great that it’s so much less expensive than buying it at the store.

  11. I love the idea of making our own soda. The whole process would be fun to do with the kids and they would love being able to choose their own flavors.

  12. I used to have a soda stream when I was little and the thing was this big ole clunker that sat on our counter – I love how sleek the designs are now. The space they take up is nothing compared to what it once was! I love that.

  14. I like that you can make your own..no running to the store if you are out of soda and want a glass>I also like that you do not have to make a huge amount but you get more then 1 serving at a time.

I think it is interesting that you just use regular tap water and don’t have to get a special kind of water.

  16. I think that they having 18 different flavors is interesting and how they can make it with lower amount of sugar

    thanks a bunch!!

  17. I appreciate their effort to avoid many possible messes that do-it-yourself might cause. Please accept my entry. Thank you.

  18. Hi, the interesting thing I found about SodaStream is that there will be no more lugging of heavy 2 liter soda bottles and then finding a place to store them. You can make fresh soda a liter at a time and even more interesting is that it’s green, no more tons of empty soda bottles. Just wash and reuse the ones from SodaStream. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  19. I added a comment on your Tasty Tuesday Mom’s Yummy Greek Chicken & Pasta post. I know it’s an older post but it sounds so good. Thanks!

  20. You don’t have to go out to get the carbonation cartridge refills, they are delivered to your door and the old ones picked up.

  21. I like that it is envornmentally friendly–produces way less waste than buying soda in the stores.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  22. The energy required to make water bottles in the US only, is equivalent to 17 million barrels of oil (Container Recycling Institute, 2002). SodaStream you save money and help the environment

  23. omg i didn’t even know there was a product like this. How fun. What a great inexpensive way to make your own carbonated water at home. I think it would be so fun to experiment with different flavors with the kids

  24. I love the idea of not having to lug home gallons of water with fizz and flavor in it that you can do at home by opening the tap!

  25. I love how you can re-use the bottles. I like returning soda bottles for the money, but actually driving to the store is a pain!!!!

  26. My interesting fact is that the Fountain Jet is neither a fountain nor a jet. It is, instead, a home carbonated beverage creation system. Cool!

    🙂

  27. I commented on your Thanksgiving Kitchen Tip: Pies post. Yum, my family loves pie and any/all tips are appreciated!

  28. One thing I find interesting is that there are so many flavors available. I usually filter our water at home and put it in reusable water bottles. It’s great that I now have the option of doing the same for sodas!

  29. I think it is interesting because it is bound to save me alot of money to get one. we go through soda and fountain drinks always taste better. I am thinking of getting one of these

  30. I think it’s interesting that you can use a classy glass carafe for your sodas. SodaStream has a very lovely one available.

  31. I like the cute BPA-free bottles. We go through a lot of fizzy water, and it kills me to think about how many bottles and cans we go through. I would really love to have one of these!

  32. Jennifer gersch

i find this interesting This package includes everything you need to make fresh sparkling water in your own home.

  33. I don’t buy pop very often either, I’m not a fan of all the sugar and most soda is way too fizzy for me. My husband is addicted to rootbeer though. I love that you could make it less fizzy if you wanted and not add as much syrup to cut back on sugar. I love the little boys accent on the commercial, so cute!

  34. I love that it is simple enough for my children to use. And that it has a large variety of flavors to suit everyone in my family.
Thank you so much for the chance to win.

  35. I found it interesting that regular flavors contain no high-fructose corn syrup, and diet flavors are sweetened with Splenda® brand sweetener, not aspartame.
