Remlinger Farms October 2009 (2)

Every year, we have a tradition in our family of picking our pumpkins at the Pumpkin Patch.  We go to Remlinger Farms, about an hour away from where we live.  At this farm, they also have a carnival with kiddy rides, a hay maze and hay jump, bounce houses, a petting zoo, and more!  We went last Friday and my husband even took the day off work to go with us (thanks honey).

My boys had so much fun!  Sam wandered away once (actually running away towards a bounce house with no fears at all).  Dallen wandered off twice (the second time I was almost in tears because he’s so little and I didn’t want somebody to walk off with him).  Amazingly, I was the one that began to panic in both instances, while my husband remained completely calm!  I just don’t get it!

Plus, I thought it would be great for photo opps that the kids wear orange shirts to Remlinger Farms.  I was grateful to see that not many people had on orange shirts at the beginning of the trip.  It wasn’t until Sam and then Dallen wandered off that I realized that there must have been other moms with the brilliant idea of having their kids wear orange shirts – because they were everywhere!!

1 nursing, 2 child wanderings, 7 rides, 5 hours, and 5 pumpkins later…..we were ready to head home.  The boys had a blast and George and I had tons of fun as well!  I couldn’t believe how big the pumpkins were that we got to take home.  Last year, they let us take small Sugar Pumpkin sized ones home!  We’ll definitely be going back again next year!

You all are so CUTE! I wish I could convince my hubby to go to a pumpkin patch with my girls. Maybe if I tell him that it would make really cute photos. That might get him.

Oh how fun we move all the time so don’t have the same place to go every year. I want to find a FUN place this year. Last years experience we got a good pic at, but that was about it. What a fun family tradition. Love the orange shirts 🙂

Your family looks adorable! We love the pumpkin patch. Every year we go with our 5 year old daughter’s class. When we get home, we carve our pumpkin find and roast the seeds. We then sit in a circle in the living room and tell each other what we enjoyed most about the day! Goodness, I just love fall and spending time with my family.

I think it’s very important to have family traditions like the pumpkin patch, or in our instance, the apple orchard.
We have pictures dating back 20 years from that darn apple orchard! We go back at least twice a year(minimum)-It’s tradition!
You have on good lookin’ family Shannon 😀

  12. Fall just happens to be one of my favorite seasons. And going to the farm whether it be to pick a pumpkin, buy a pumpkin, or just see the pumpkins is a must for anyone. Here at the farm where I live they have a huge amount of activities for the kids as well. From the Boo Barn, Hayrides, Tractor Trikes, Corn Maze, and even these cool fun slides. We love it. : )

  13. We will be going to a pumpkin patch next weekend, hope we have as much fun!

This sounds like a family tradition. Keep it up. I have teenage boys who still fondly remember visiting the pumpkin patch. I’m sure they will bring their own families to the pumpkin patch. Here in New England we also have night time pumpkin patches where they light up thousands of carved pumpkins. It is an amazing sight and not to be missed if you ever come across one. Your photos are really great. Make an album for free at Shutterfly.
