I recently had the opportunity to read the book Twenty Boy Summer
by Sarah Ockler. It was a fun and easy read! The book starts out with Anna and her school years’ crush, Matt, who just happens to be her best friend’s brother. Anna’s birthday is perfect, made complete by a first kiss from Matt. Anna is giddy and excited about where their relationship may end up, but worried about how to tell her best friend that she is head over heels for her brother. Matt reassures Anna that everything will be okay and that he will be the one to tell Frankie, his sister and Anna’s best friend. However, Matt’s life is suddenly cut short as the result of a tragic accident!
After mourning the death of her brother, Frankie suggests twenty days in Zanzibar Bay, which would give them the perfect opportunity for a summer fling. Frankie suggests that if they meet one boy every day, Anna will have a good chance of finding her first summer romance. Anna agrees, but she really wants to tell her best friend that her first romance was with Matt (Frankie’s brother). What will happen? Read it and find out!
