PBS Kids DVDs
Thanks to Extraordinary Mothers, I had the opportunity to review some great DVDs from PBS Kids. I received “Sid the Science Kid: Change Happens,” “Sid the Science Kid: The Bug Club,” and “Dive Olly Dive: The Ship Shape Sub.”
My boys love watching “Sid the Science Kid: Change Happens
!” Sid the Science Kid wants to know why certain things change – such as when the popsicle melts, the banana turns brown, or how is Grandma knows how to make a pancake that is not too squishy or burnt. Sid and his friends discover the effects of time, temperature, and the environment through fun experiments and songs. Your kids (and you) will enjoy watching “Sid the Science Kid: Change Happens.” There are 4 fun-filled episodes, including (1) My Mushy Banana, (2) My Shrinking Shoes, (3) My Ice Pops, and (4) The Perfect Pancake.”
Another one my boys love to watch is “Sid the Science Kid: The Bug Club
.” One day, Sid the Science Kids hears a dog barking and starts to wonder if the dogs are talking to him. At school, Sid learns that animals do communicate in different ways, including barking, making sounds, and using body language. He soon discovers more questions, such as “what makes dirt dirty?” or “do leaves actually do anything?” There are 4 fun-filled episodes, including (1) Hello Doggie, (2) Home Tweet Home, (3) The Dirt on Dirt, and (4) Don’t Forget the Leaves.
My boys also enjoyed watching “Dive Olly Dive: Ship Shape Sub
.” Olly, Beth, and Skid ignore a warning from Diver Doug when they decide to stay the night on a “haunted” shipwreck. The friends learn that the ship is not haunted but is still dangerous. In another fun adventure, Suzy the Sea Plane doesn’t listen to Ranger the Cowboy Seahorse because of how small he is. She soon learns to rely on Ranger when she becomes tangled in the Kelp Forest and that good things do come from small packages. There are 5 fun-filled episodes, including (1) Haunted Ship Prank, (2) Less is More, (3) Navigation Consternation, (4) Follow That Lobster, and (5) Don’t Tell Beth.
