Mommy or Blogger?

I love blogging, but it can be quite time-consuming and sometimes I feel as though I’m neglecting my kids. I have taken more control recently and narrowed down the times of day that I work on my blog – whether it’s posting reviews, searching for new products, emailing other mommy bloggers, earning money via my blog, the list goes on and on.

I am excited to have the opportunity to attend the General Mills Eat and Greet in August in Minnesota. I’ve never been to Minnesota and I’ve also never traveled alone with one of my kids by myself on a plane. I’m taking my youngest since he is still nursing and wouldn’t do well without me for more than a day. I’m excited to meet some of my fellow mommy bloggers, including Caryn from Rockin’ Mama, Tanya from Mommy Goggles, Cat from 3 Kids and Us, and Jacqueline from Blessings Abound. It will be awesome to see some of these mommy bloggers in person!

I was also recently 1 of 15 bloggers invited to attend another Mommy Blogger Event in Chicago. I was so excited to receive my invitation, but couldn’t find someone to watch my older kids and didn’t want to ask my hubby to take any more time off work then he already is (taking time off for the General Mills event) and around Christmas to visit family. Plus, I wouldn’t be able to participate in much of the event with my little guy!

I was so bummed but had a decision to make. Do I put my blogging ahead of being a mom and taking care of my kids? No! Blogging is fun and I love it, but my first priority is that I’m a mom. As much as I would have LOVED to go to this event, I have a family and boys that need me. I can’t just assume that someone else will take care of my kids so I can go do something for me. **♥Note: I’m not passing judgment on any of you moms that are lucky enough to have family around to help out with the kids so that you can attend these events.♥** I’m hopeful that the next time around, I can find childcare and attend.

Plus, I’m still hoping to attend the Mom 2.0 Summit and BlogHer 2010! I am looking for sponsors to help me attend (if you happen to be a company rep or PR person reading this right now)!
