I loved the book The Noticer, written by Andy Andrews, New York Times best-selling author of The Traveler’s Gift. Talk about an uplifting and positive tone – you’ll find it in The Noticer. Based on a true story, The Noticer is about an old drifter by the name of Jones who has a gift for seeing what others miss and doesn’t consider any situation to be a “dead end.” Whether it’s poverty, a failing marriage, old age, lost dreams, a failing business, or an unsure future, there is hope for all of those people according to Jones. To Jones, it only takes a little “perspective” to recognize the “miracles in our moments, the seeds of greatness tucked into our struggles.”

Jones makes his way through the coastal town of Orange Beach Alabama, helping residents everywhere he turns. He offers wisdom and hope to those struggling. I love this quote: “My contention is that you are right where you are supposed to be. This may look like barren sand to you, but nothing could be further from the truth. I say to you that as you lay your head down tonight, you are sleeping on fertile ground. Think, learn, pray, plan, dream. For soon….you will become.”

Andy Andrews has also started The Noticer Project, which gives people the opportunity to notice others in their lives who have made a positive impact. Participants notice 5 other people who have made a positive impact on their lives. “The Noticer Project is meant to encourage people to step outside their busy schedules to take notice of five special people who have made a positive impact on their lives. As a result, participants in The Noticer Project not only acknowledge the contributions of other people on their lives, but they also gain a fresh perspective on their own journey.” Who will you notice?
