Summer Equals Parties and Fun
The summer season is just around the corner – I can’t believe it! Kids will be out of school, the weather will be beautiful outside, cool drinks will be vital, and fun will be had. During the summer, why not host a pool party, a Summer Solstice Party, a Memorial Day Party…the list goes on and on?
I remember growing up and going with my dad and stepmom to a 4th of July bash every year that one of my dad’s friends hosted. It was complete with a barbecue, swimming pool, games for the kids, sodas galore, and a firework display you wouldn’t believe! I looked forward to going every year. They had patriotic paper supplies (cups, plates) and streamers, as well as centerpieces. It was a good time every time!
In my family, we have parties, but they are on a much smaller scale. We usually invite a couple of families or friends. We have a barbecue and a tasty dessert to go along with it. I think this year, however, we have a Memorial Day Party to honor those who have served our country. I’ll get a patriotic tablecloth with some red, white, and blue carnations as a centerpiece. I’ll buy a couple of red, white, and blue balloons for decorations (as well as for my kids to play with). We’ll have our traditional barbecue. I’ll make my famous Strawberry shortcake and add a couple of blueberries to the mix. Plus, we’ll hang out an American Flag to complete the look.
