Merry Christmas 2008
We had a partially white Christmas this year (the closest I’ve ever been to having a white Christmas). There was still snow (or slush) on the ground and some wet snow fell, so I’ll count that!
Every year, we have a tradition of buying a permit from the Department of Forest Services for $10.00 and hunting down our family Christmas tree. This year, we went out once with no luck. We had plans to go out again, but the storms prevented us from doing so. I thought for sure we weren’t going to have a tree, so I put up my tole painted Christmas tree and snowman with lights in it’s place.
After work yesterday, George tried hunting down a Christmas at the various Christmas tree lots, but all of them were closed. I had a thought to check on craigslist.
Bingo!! There were some people giving away 9 foot Noble firs – for free! George drove down with Brian, trimmed it down a few feet, and brought it home. There was a price tag on it and it normally ran $70.00. We got it for the best price of all – free (less what little gas it took to get there)!
Brian and Dallen were so excited to decorate the tree! We put up the lights and ornaments within an hour!
A big thanks to daddy for going and picking out a beautiful tree for us!
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have a Happy New Year as well!
