Today, on Redhead Mom, I’m sharing a partnered blog post about Ways to Make Life Easier for Older Adults at Home.

Getting older can definitely be a blessing, but can be difficult in a number of ways as well. Whether you are getting older yourself or you have family members who are getting older, there are different ways to make life easier for them. As I get older (and I see my parents get older), some of these things have started to come into my mind and I wanted to share about them. Knowing also how to climb stairs easily for your elderly loved ones will make them feel loved and cared! Discover more stair options here so they can be safe.

Check out these ways to make life easier for older adults at home, but while you’re at it you should take into consideration assisted living as an option if you cannot adapt your home to the elderly needs. However, it’s crucial to choose the right elderly facility as nursing home abuse and neglect are not unheard of. But to help you with, an efficient elder abuse lawyer can help those who have been the victims of nursing home abuse get the justice and the right compensation.

Use pillboxes. As you get older, the medications seem to increase (or at least that’s what I’ve seen with older adults). It can be very difficult to keep track of the different medications or vitamins they need to take on a daily basis. A great way to make this easier is to have a pillbox they can use to keep track of their dosages. It will help them to remember when to take their pills, as well as to not take too many each day. You can also find an app to use on their smartphone that will help them keep track of their pillbox dosages so they won’t forget taking their essential medication.

The Tile. We use and love The Tile. It is a small tile that you control on your phone and helps you to locate items such as your keys, AirPods, and even remote controls! I can’t tell you how many times we used the Tile to find our tv remote, which had fallen under the couch or in between the cushions. It is small and easy to use.

Alexa and the Echo Dot. The Echo Dot is a great way for older adults to be able to ask Alexa questions or even play music while sitting in the comfort of their chair, couch, or bed. Honestly, it’s great for all people and even we use it quite often in our home. You may also get a residential intercom installation so it’ll be easier for your elderly relatives to communicate with other members of your family without having to leave their room. Elderly people tend to focus on the present, instead of future goals, and leisure activities and social interactions tend to become an important component of their life satisfaction and psychological well-being. And to add life to their years, meeting the emotional needs of elderly is very important.

The Ring. I know many people who use and love the Ring doorbell device and app. It’s great because it has a camera that notifies them when someone approaches their doorstep or rings their doorbell. It allows them to record activity at their door (or wherever they place it), as well as lets them talk through the speaker to the visitor. It can be managed through an app on their smartphone.

Find their dream home online. In this day and age, finding a new place to live is easier and more convenient than ever. Without having to travel all over in search for a new home, they can easily visit sites like this website and narrow down their options for a new place to live.

While many seniors with early-stage dementia can live independently or with some help, those with greater cognitive decline may need help from trained professionals in memory care communities.

At-home nursing. In this day and age, it can be difficult to make frequent trips to the doctor’s office. A good option is at-home nursing such as Spectrum Health Care homecare nursing. Check it out and see if it’s a good option for the older adults in your life.

While there are many other ways to make life easier for older adults at home, these are just a few ideas I had.
