Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of year, which is followed by Christmas – my favorite time of the year! I love Thanksgiving because it’s when I get to enjoy food with family and friends and think of all the things in life I am thankful for. It’s also a great time to come up with yummy treats and fun crafts to do with the kids.

Thanks to Voortman Wafers, we were given a challenge of creating a craft for Thanksgiving, We created an Edible Thanksgiving Turkey Craft that turned out pretty dang cute! It was not only fun to do, but is yummy too!

What To Do:

1 – Take two wafers and line one of the sides with the decorator icing. Push them together so they are attached.

2 – Using a sharp knife, cut two wafers in half. These will create a base for which the turkey body can stand on. You’ll also want to cut the wafers to create the feathers of the turkey. For these, you’ll slice in half width wide, as well as length wide. Glue one of the halves on the back of the body so you can slide the wafers that will be the feathers underneath and they can dry. When the turkey body and feathers are dry, you’ll add another half to the base, making it easy to stand up.

3 – Once you have the icing on the feathers and they are placed and pressed onto the back of the body, it’s time to add the eyes, beak, and feet. Start by adding icing to the face for the eyes, beak and feet.

I love Voortman Bakery wafers and was really excited to try out the Chocolate Mint variety, not to mention use them in our Edible Thanksgiving Turkey Craft! I love them not only because they are yummy, but because they are baked with real cocoa! At Voortman Bakery, they believe in real ingredients. Simple, real ingredients are what make their cookies so remarkably delicious. Their wafers and cookies have no artificial colors or flavors AND no high-fructose corn syrup.

At Voortman Bakery, they believe in the art of baking. Plus, their bakers love to bake! From creating new and exciting flavor combinations to constantly reviewing their recipes, their bakers are real cookie connoisseurs! They believe that cookies should taste delicious. I love that Voortman Bakery is committed to giving uncompromising quality, flavor, and simply better cookies to their customers. At Voortman Bakery, they believe that REAL bakes better.

HISTORY OF VOORTMAN BAKERY

I like to learn about the history behind the brands that I love! Voortman Cookies began in 1951 when two young Dutch brothers, William and Harry Voortman, opened their first bakery in Hamilton, Ontario. It took five years of dedicated baking and hard work before a Canadian grocery chain agreed to give Voortman Cookies shelf space in their stores!

Even though their name has changed, their commitment to using simple, real ingredients has not. At Voortman Bakery, quality and taste has always been and always will be their top priority. From their classic Windmill cookies to their new Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, they’re constantly reinventing what delicious tastes like!

What is your favorite flavor of Voortman Bakery Wafers??
