Fright Fest 2018

As a family, we enjoy going to amusement parks. One of our favorites is Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. We enjoy it so much that we have annual passes. What’s great about the annual pass is that you can pay it in monthly installments, making it a lot easier on the budget for a big family like ours. Not only do we enjoy amusement parks, but we also enjoy Halloween time! From spookifying our home with decorations to carving pumpkins to dressing up in costumes – Halloween is a fun activity we do as a family that makes lots of memories for all of us!

When we went to Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain this year, it was on a Sunday. When we go in the future, I think we will definitely go on a Sunday again. It was great because it wasn’t as crowded as a Saturday normally is. The kids went on a ton of rides (in a short amount of time) and the lines for the Haunted Attractions were also reasonable.

If you want to purchase a Fright Fest Haunted Maze pass, you don’t have to wait in line outside the park. You can purchase your Fright Fest pass online or at a building set up near the entrance. Passes are discounted for Seasonal Pass Holders. When we went on Sunday, the prices were as follows:

  • General Access – $23.00
  • General Access – Season Pass Holder Special – $18.00
  • Express Access – $38.00
  • Express Access – Season Pass Holder Special – $33.00
  • Upgrade to Express Access – $15.00

We chose to upgrade our Fright Fest Haunted Maze passes to the Express Access pass. And it was TOTALLY worth it! On a Saturday, it’s great, but there is still a little bit of wait – of course nothing compared to the regular lines. However, on a Sunday, the wait was almost non-existent. It is definitely worth the extra cost.

Throughout the park, you’ll find a variety of spooky decorations. This year’s theme was Hell Fest, based on the movie. The park decorations were spooky and definitely provided great photo opps (especially during the day).

Fright Fest, presented by SNICKERS®, starts at 7:00 pm, so if you have younger kids, you’ll probably want to clear out of the park before then. Once the sun goes down and it starts getting dark, the entire atmosphere of the park changes…and it’s so much fun! Last year, we were able to see the entire Fright Fest cast and crew come out in parade fashion, but this year, we were at dinner when it started. It’s definitely something you want to check out. You’ll find the gates open in the streets of DC Universe, which is also where the City Under Siege Scare Zone is.

During Fright Fest (and with a Maze pass), you can check out Haunted Attractions, Scare Zones, shows and even experience rides like never before! Our favorite Haunted Attractions were Condemned – Forever Damned (where you walk through an condemned and abandoned haunted house), Red’s Revenge (a haunted version of Red Riding Hood) and Willoughby’s Resurrected (a haunted Victorian mansion).

The Scare Zones were fun too! And while the night was full of screams, it was also filled with laughs! Our favorite Scare Zones included Witch’s Lair, Exile Hill and Nightmares: A Twisted Fantasy. The costumes, makeup, special effects and lights were awesome! Let’s not forget how cool the ghouls and goblins on stilts were!

If you have an Annual Pass, I would recommend you purchase a photo pass as well. This can be used at both Six Flags Magic Mountain, as well as Hurricane Harbor. We’ve already got our money’s worth with the pictures we’ve saved and shared on social media!

Fright Fest is on select days from September 15th through October 28th this year. Our kids all loved going to Fright Fest last year, as well as this year. We are looking forward to going again next year too!

Have you ever been to Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain?
