Did you know that today, Thursday, March 22nd, is World Water Day? I knew there were different days for different things (i.e. National Chocolate Day, National Cheesecake Day, etc.), but didn’t know much about World Water Day until now. In 1992, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, the people of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) created an international day to celebrate freshwater. Since March 22nd, 1993, World Water Day has celebrated freshwater – the most important factor in the health of humans and ecosystems – with different themes. The theme for World Water Day 2018 is “Nature for Water” – exploring nature-based solutions to the water challenges we face in the 21st century. To celebrate World Water Day, check out these 5 Fun Water Facts.

5 FUN WATER FACTS

1 – Less than 1% of the earth’s water supply can be used as drinking water.

2 – A person can live without food for about a month, but only about a week without water.

3 – Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water. The lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water. Muscles and kidneys are 79% water. Bones are 31% water.

4 – The weight a person loses directly after intense physical activity is weight from water, not fat.

5 – It is recommended to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Doing so will help you have healthier skin and hair.

Learning these fun facts about water has shown me just how important of a role water really does play in our life! Water – what does it mean to you? At Gululu, WATER = LIFE. To Gululu, there really couldn’t be a more important day! Gululu’s mission is to bring good hydration health to children around the world – highlights this special day.

The partnership between Generosity.org and Gululu promises that every Gululu water bottle purchased will guarantee a child in a developing country access to water for life! This is something they care very much about and are proud to be making the world a better place for our children, and for the future of freshwater on our planet. On this special day, Gululu invites us parents to teach our kids about the importance of water for their lives – the neurological and physiological benefits of adequate hydration levels for kids. Teach them how important water is for our planet – every drop counts for our health, every drop can help flowers grow and animals to thrive. Discuss with your kids about ways to conserve water. Our children are tomorrow’s adults that will shape our world. Gululu wants them to know that when water equals life, every drop matters.

Did you know that hydration promotes mood and cognition? Over half of all children are under hydrated. This may result in poor health, cognitive problems, and poor emotional development. I didn’t know that before! Sometimes it can be a real challenge to get our kids to drink water and stay hydrated. It’s just “boring” or “annoying” to have to drink and stay hydrated, but it’s necessary. Gululu makes the process easy and fun.

ABOUT THE EDUCATIONAL BOTTLE

This fun water bottle has a screen on it that features a tamagucci like pet and together the child embarks on underwater adventures, helping his or her pet to get back to its lost Planet Ima. The gamification of the bottle and the new pet-friend encourages kids to drink water, while parents stay updated about their kids intake through the dedicated app! The bottles come in the colors yellow, blue and pink.

Gululu was featured on main media publications such as Forbes that declared it as top 5 best kids gadgets, Vauge and others.

Gululu shares these values by offering an amazing discount on Amazon exclusives: only $99 USD instead of $149 USD full price – this will run from March 22-29 only.

Gululu looks like a great product and I think our kids would have a lot of fun with it! Happy World Water Day!

Interesting facts! I also read something similar before. If I may add, one intersting trivia is that very lirtle water is actually lost in our world. So come to think of it, we may be drinking the same water molecules that were already existing millions of years ago.
