As parents, we want the best for our kids. Not only to have experiences in life, but to keep them safe and sound so they can have those experiences. As a mom of kids, I can tell you that I do a LOT of laundry! Tons of it! It never ever goes away! When you have children in your home, there are a lot of potential dangers – some we don’t even think about. I mean, I honestly never really thought of kids getting into things in the laundry room, however, it is possible. It is also possible that curious hands could make their way into cleaning products and packs of laundry cleaners (i.e. pods), which might lead to possible poisoning. Let’s avoid that all costs, shall we??!!

What is Child-Guard™??

That’s where Child-Guard™ comes into play! What is Child-Guard™? Child-Guard™ is the first ever child-resistant closure system designed specifically for products that use flexible packaging. What is flexible packaging? Flexible packaging refers to the package or container made of flexible or easily yielding materials that, when filled or closed, can be readily changed in shape. The construction may be of paper, plastic film, foil or any combination of these. Thermoforming also provides space to include important information about the product, such as instructions, ingredients, or even nutrition information, visit Andex online to learn more!

Why is Child-Guard™ important?

Why is Child-Guard important to moms everywhere? Flexible packaging represents approximately 18 percent of the total packaging market and it’s the fastest growing type of packaging in all consumer goods markets. That means common household products such as laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals and lawn and garden products will sold in flexible packages without a child-resistant closure, could be very easy for children to open and get into and resulting in accidental poisonings.

Just last year the Centers for Disease Control and Prevents received more than 1.3 million calls involving poison exposure for children. The makers of Child-Guard™ knew there was void in the flexible packaging industry for a child-resistant zipper and committed themselves to developing a solution that would satisfy this critical market need. Child-Guard meets industry packaging and federal Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA) standards.

How does Child-Guard™ work?

Great lengths were taken to create a package closure that is designed to keep children safe, yet is also easy for adults to operate. To open the package, the consumer must first move the slider to left point of the zipper. Next the consumer should push down on the slider’s tab and at the same time pull the slider to the right along the track.

  2. I think that’s such a great idea. I can’t believe manufacturer’s didn’t think of it sooner. I might start buying these now. I’ve been afraid of kids getting into them before.

I feel like I am always doinng laundry too. My husband picked up some laundry soap in November and I just opened it two weeks ago. At first, I couldn’t figure out how to open it. It is a nice feature but since I have rheumatoid arthritis it can be a pain to open especially if my hands hurt.

  5. I am so glad to see these! Every time I wash my laundry with pods I think about how they look like a treat and kids would love to eat these! I keep them high on a shelf.. but you never know~

That is so great that they thought of creating Child-Guard. Brilliant! I will have to share this with my friends who have small kids. Just in case they’re not aware of this yet.
