Celebrating Family and Food This Thanksgiving with Butterball + Giveaway
One of my favorite times of the year is Thanksgiving. There are so many great things that happen around this time of year. First off, we celebrate my oldest son’s birthday around Thanksgiving. He was actually born the day after Thanksgiving! I always said it was something in the turkey that did it…something good!
On Thanksgiving, we also celebrate the anniversary of when my husband, Frank, proposed to me and asked me to be his wife. Every Thanksgiving, we go around the room and share what we’re thankful for. How does Butterball make your Thanksgivings memorable?
I have a memory when my grandfather dropped roasting pan after taking the turkey out. We lost all the juice for the gravy and he felt terrible. We assured him, the dinner would be fine without it and although he felt bad, we had a terrific dinner together as a family. It wasn’t about the gravy, it was about us being together as a family.
I remember always wanting to help my grandmother cook for the holidays, those were special moments with her.
The year I left the turkey in the oven and fell asleep- We had the driest turkey ever-but no one said anything!
My special memory is when I had my daughter and she was only 3 months old, and my husband had to work on Thanksgiving. I was sad about it, but at the last minute his boss called up and said that he did not have to work and to have a nice Thanksgiving and gave us a big Turkey basket. I was so thrilled to have my husband home that Thanksgiving.
My first thanksgiving with my husband was the most special thanksgiving ever. we were young and poor but we were happy.
I have a great memory of cooking a HUGE almost 30 pound turkey for a bunch of my husband’s army buddies when he was stationed in Alaska.

My oldest son was born November 16, 1982. So that was the most special Thanksgiving. It was special because it was the first time my husband’s family met his son.
All Thanksgivings are special to me. My kids help make the desserts and set the table. Hubby helps with the side dishes and carving the bird 🙂
Oh I remember years ago…just a few days before thanksgiving, my niece was born way to early and weighed only 1 pound 9 ounces. We spent Thanksgiving at the hospital that year….with our families new precious little blessing! Today she is a healthy almost 9 year old!
The most special memory I have of Thanksgiving is the last one spent with my grandmother. I didn’t know at the time that it would be the last but now it is a very special memory.

I remember a Thanksgiving 11 years ago. We all knew if would be my MIL’s last Thanksgiving with us as she had cancer and wasn’t expected to live much longer. We spend the whole day with her as she shared funny stories of the family. She passed away a couple of weeks later but I still remember that Thanksgiving with her.
Lots of memories but a nice one is when we went to our Grandmothers cross country for Thanksgiving. We never got to see them except maybe in the summer when the weather was nicer. The smell of everything cooking and the HUGE table with all n the relatives was so nice.
We are all about turkey now. But when I was a child, our family went through some financial straits. So my grandpa and uncles took my dad hunting and for Thanksgiving, we enjoyed their contribution of pheasant and quail. I can still remember a big group of us around the table enjoying a huge meal with plenty of food thanks to family.
I can’t think of just one special memory. The whole family gets together every year and it’s always so much fun!

A Very special Thanksgiving day memory was when my cats ( Fred and Ginger had their first Thanksgiving with us- they were still skittish because I had recently adopted them, BUT, the aroma of roasting Turkey coaxed them out of hiding. Both cats had a slice of roasted Turkey for dinner.

When we were kids, we would go to my grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving. She always had a kids’ table…and at each place setting was a foil covered chocolate turkey.

Special memory I have is looking forward to my mom’s Thanksgiving meal, she always made it the best. Now she doesn’t cook, it’s my turn!
At my college job, we woke up and met to play flag football every Thanksgiving at 5am. It was tons of fun.
My favorite is when my dad was stationed in Germany and we would invite other soldiers who were single/without family to our house for Thanksgiving!
My most special memory is the last Thanksgiving I had with my grandmother and my mom. We got together and cooked and laughed and just had the best time.
A special memory I have from Thanksgiving would be going to my uncle’s house for Thanksgiving when I was little. I would always get to watch the Macy’s Day Parade while lunch was being prepared. It was so much fun!

The year we had a storm and the power went out throughout the county. We finally found a seafood restaurant with it’s own generator. I cooked the turkey the next day.

My mom would always get the turkey ready and then make all the little kids stand around it and throw it a kiss before it went in the oven. I was always so cute. All the grandkids would be there- it was a big family tradition for them to spend the night and eat pizza the night before Thanksgiving. They’d have a slumber party in the living room.
My favorite memory of Thanksgiving is when we were kids, my Mom would cook for our family, but for my Aunts, Uncles and cousins. We’d have a house full of people and Mom would cook 2 turkeys to feed everyone. With having a house full of guests, my brother and I would have a blast, especially with our cousins.

My uncle gave all of the kids a disposable camera one year to take pictures with for Thanksgiving. He didn’t think that if you hand a 3 year old the only pictures you get will be butts. It was hysterical!
My special Thanksgiving is a couple years ago. My son favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. He moved out and was coming home for his first Thanksgiving homecoming.
My memories are when I was a kid spending Thanksgiving at my Grandmother’s house with all of our family. I remember making cranberry with my mother the first time
Having my grandmother over to my house where I got to cook for her.
As far back as I can remember, I’ve cooked a butterball turkey, big or small, the aroma of it cooking just seemed to bring everyone together in the kitchen, having friends and family to share it is what Thanksgiving day is all about.
Last Thanksgiving was great with both sides of the family there with all the kids. The first time we’ve all been together!
We made pinecone center pieces for Thanksgiving. They were so pretty.
My favorite memory was the last one I got to spend with my grandfather. He was always such a fun man that loved football. We would go out and play flag football every year. He has since passed and although I can;t see him anymore, we always sense his presence on Thanksgiving.
When my son was going to a tech school here in town, a lot of his friends were from out of state and unable to make the trip home for Thanksgiving. We invited several of them over for dinner. Was quite a fun and boisterous meal!

One Thanksgiving I invited a couple of friends and one of my sisters over. I took the turkey out of the oven and set it on the counter to be carved. My friend started to carve the turkey but wasn’t getting any white meat. We soon discovered the turkey was upside down!
My favorite memory is when we would all gather around grandma’s table for our Thanksgiving feast. It was always a great time since we all were together.
I enjoyed last Thanksgiving when we hosted my inlaws and had a relaxing enjoyable day eating, visiting, and watching parades and football.
We had a group of relatives come up and visit us. We hadn’t seen them in many years so it was so much fun getting caught up on their lives. We cooked together and just had fun. I will never forget it.

One of the most memorable Thanksgiving was the year my nephew was born. We had five generations to celebrate Thanksgiving with ranging from my great grandma down to my nephew. We even took a special five generation photo with my nephew wearing the cutest little turkey outfit for the holiday. My great grandma passed away about two weeks before Thanksgiving the following year so it was truly special to have this opportunity.
My special memory is the first Thanksgiving after we lost our mom. My dad wanted us to have the best Thanksgiving we could have so he decided to make it all on his own. The mashed potatoes were lumpy, the turkey was so overdone it was too dry to eat and the vegetables and rolls were burned. To me the fact that he made it for us made it the best Thanksgiving dinner I have ever had.
Every Thanksgiving is special to me because it is the only day of the year that all my brothers and sisters get together. We all play games and catch up on each others lives.

My best most special was the last one when my father was alive. We had all the family over and he even invited a couple random strangers who had no where to go. It was the best time.
One Thanksgiving I had to make dinner myself and my kids still tease me to this day about the sweet potato’s that I used Christmas colored marshmallows on. Needless to say they didn’t turn out that well.

My favorite memory is joining my family at my grandparents’ home for Thanksgiving dinner all throughout my childhood. My cousins were all there and we would place black olives on our fingers and bite them off one by one. Black olives have been a must at my Thanksgiving dinners ever since.
When I was younger we always had Thanksgiving at my dad’s parents’ house. We’d walk in and the house smelled so wonderful. My grandma would squeeze me so hard I thought my bones would break. After dinner, we all went outside and played an epic family football game. We still talk about those games 🙂
My special memory is my Mom, before she passed on, making a fantastic Thanksgiving spread for my family and my cousins.
The Thanksgiving my parents declared that they were tired of turkey and were going to serve exotic ethnic food (it was the 1970’s.) Everyone was so mad at missing traditional food that they NEVER did that again 🙂

It was the Thanksgiving after my mom passed. I was not sure hwo i was going to get through holidays, let alone make new traditions. But i had a young daughter that was counting on me. And my aunt who had lost her sister and best friend was devastated. I told her we needed her, so she came to spend Thanksgiving with us. We watched movies, played cards, and then worked on prepping the food and suddenly, my aunt started singing and dancing around the kitchen. It was such a light hearted ,fun moment, and i realized we would be okay. Seven years later, my aunt is coming to spend the holiday again. We have the movies, the cards and the food.

My favorite memory is that my Mom always enlisted me to peel / chop vegetables, since the time I could wield a knife, to help her prepare the Thanksgiving dinner.
All the cousins used to go and pick up the pecans in Grandma’s back yard after Thanksgiving lunch!
For me, it was when my grandmother was still alive and all the great memorirs with her.
