I love this time of year! Time for family and friends, decorations, baking, shopping and giving. It’s also a special time of year for making memories with our families. I don’t know about you, but our family loves to watch movies during the holidays, as well as enjoying all the homemade goodies that goes along with them. On December 21st, Illumination Entertainment’s movie, SING©, will be coming to theaters everywhere. If you haven’t seen the preview yet, I definitely recommend you check it out! It looks like a good one!

With the holiday season in full swing now and our kids getting ready to go on the long awaited 3 week break, it’s a great time to continue or even start some fun holiday traditions. Here are 5 ways to sweeten the holidays with your family:

#Holiday #Holidays

1 – Decorate your home for the holidays. Our kids love to help decorate for Christmas. Decorating includes putting up the lights outside the house and the decorations in the front yard, putting up festive decor inside the house and dressing our Christmas tree with a ton of ornaments!

2 – Enjoy movies as a family. One of our holiday traditions as a family is to enjoy watching holiday movies after we’ve finished decorating the house and tree. We also love going to the movie theaters. As I mentioned above, we’re looking forward to seeing the SING Movie in theaters on December 21st.

3 – Make holiday crafts together. Our kids love to get creative when it comes to art and crafts! One of their favorite holiday projects was painting a Nutcracker doll. There are tons of holiday craft ideas out there that are great for kids.

4 – Choose a family to do Secret Santa for. During the holidays, I especially love giving to others. Something I remember doing when I was younger was choosing a family to be Secret Santa for. Often times, we’d help out a family having a hard time. This might include dropping off a bag full of wrapped presents or a basket of food to prepare for the holidays. It’s a great way to give to others and teach your children how to be giving during the holidays.

5 – Sweeten the holidays with baked goodies. Our kids love to help cook in the kitchen…and they love eating the sweet treats even more! Our family especially loves chocolate cupcakes. After picking up a few boxes of Golden Crisp® from Target, we thought it would be fun to create a really yummy cupcake! Check it out.

First, we baked the cupcakes. Once they were cooled, we spread a frosting on top. You can choose vanilla, chocolate or whatever flavor you’d like. The frosting will not only taste good, but also act as a glue to hold the next ingredients in place.

Once frosted, dip the top of the cupcake into a bowl of Golden Crisp® cereal and then add festive candy sprinkles on top. Finish off with a red or green gumdrop right in the middle of the cupcake. Enjoy your yummy holiday cupcake!
