Summertime is here and that means our kids are out of school and have a lot of free time on their hands. How often do you hear the phrase, “Mom, I’m bored. There’s nothing to do.” Whereas during the school year, they can’t wait for all that free time during the summer. The trick is to keep them busy doing activities that will wear them out (I”m just being honest – hee hee). Here are 10 Kid-Friendly Summer Activities that we like to do with our kids.

10 Things to Do with Kids During the Summer

1 – Take them to the Swimming Pool. Our kids love to swim and we have a pool in the community where we live. While it does cost money for a membership, it’s totally worth it for a heated pool and hot tub, equipped with complete pool supplies and accessories! If you don’t have a pool where you live, check into your community to see if they have one with the city or with a center such as the YMCA, while if you have a pool at home, you should consider getting an enclosure for this from miramar beach pool enclosures online. If you are also planning to have your own pool at home, then it may be good to talk to a pool service contractor before summer begins.

2 – Take them to the park. Kids of all ages love to go to the park. Whether it’s playing on the play structure, swinging or riding their bikes, they’ll have a good time at the park. Or, take them to an escape room in Dallas as this can be a great mental exercise for them, book now!

3 – Join your local bowling for Kids Free Bowling. Where we live, we are able to join our local bowling alley and the kids get to bowl for free, with the exception of shoe rentals. They love it (and it wears them out too)!

4 – Have a PJ, Popcorn and Movie Day! Sometimes during the summer, your kids just want to hang around the house. That’s totally ok, as long as it’s not every single day. Have a movie marathon or let each of the kids pick out a movie to watch. Don’t forget the popcorn with butter! You can also sprinkle your plain popcorn with Organic Butter Powder for a tasty treat!

5 – Go to the zoo. We recently purchased a membership for the Santa Barbara Zoo and I took the kids last week. They absolutely loved it! They got to feed giraffes and take a train around the zoo. Plus, they have different activities for kids throughout the year.

6 – Pack a picnic lunch. Sometimes it’s nice to just get outside and go for a picnic with the kids. Don’t forget to pack snacks, drinks and sunscreen!

7 – Go to a waterpark. We purchased a membership for our kids for our local waterpark near the lake. I took the kids the other day and they absolutely loved it! They were playing in the water and going on slides for 5 hours (talk about wearing them out). It was a lot of fun and they can’t wait to do it again!

8 – Go for a bike ride. Our kids love to ride the bikes and it’s definitely worth the investment in bikes, helmet and pads to get them outdoors and enjoying being active! Riding UTVs is also an exciting and enjoyable activities that kids can try this summer. You may rent or buy one from a local utv dealer.

9 – Go rock climbing. I’m not talking about hiking in Yosemite or Zion National Park, but I’m talking about going to a rock climbing gym or even to your local Boomers (I know ours has one). The kids will have a blast!

10 – Get together for playdates. One of the bummers about summer is that our kids don’t get to see their friends from school. Be sure to get their parents’ contact information so you can text during the summer and set up playdates. Your kids will thank you!
