Have you heard of Metromile before? It’s an awesome company that provides signature pay-per-mile car insurance. The pay-per-mile car insurance has customers ditching their cars, many for their own two feet, which has made pay-per-step walking insurance a necessity.

ABOUT METROMILE’S WALKING INSURANCE

Metromile pay-per-step insurance functions through its new smart walking app: the Metromile Pace. Several factors will be considered when creating the customer’s unique per-step rate, including broken bone history, clumsiness score and type of walking shoes.

Customers who sign up for the Metromile Pace will be covered in the event of:

  • Being caught in an unexpected rainstorm
  • Losing balance, tripping or falling
  • Worn out socks and shoes
  • Emergency walk-side assistance
  • And more!

Metromile is excited about their new “Walk Much?” alert, which gauges fall severity based on impact and alerts the provider immediately to help the customer get help as soon as possible.

Metromile offers a safe-walker discount for walkers who commit to not walk-and-text, use the handrail when available, and follow the safe route recommended by their Metromile Pace.

Take advantage of the foot care package, which includes a monthly pedicure and new pair of socks.

Metromile Pay-Per-Mile Insurance

April Fools! While Metromile doesn’t actually have a pay-per-step walking insurance, it does have revolutionary pay-per-mile insurance available in Washington, Oregon, California, Illinois, New Jersey, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Check out my earlier review of Metromile.

Metromile is designed for those who drive less than 10,000 miles a year and saves the average customer $500 annually. With Metromile, drivers only pay a few cents per mile with a low base rate each month for full coverage. Metromile has found that low mileage drivers with traditional car insurance are in effect subsidizing the premiums of drivers with higher mileage because the risk of an accident increases with the number of miles driven. With Metromile, drivers pay a low monthly base rate and then a per-mile rate. (Note: the average base rate is $45-50 and per mile rate is 5-7cents per mile). Low mileage drivers typically save $500 annually by switching to Metromile’s pay-per-mile insurance. You can get your quote at www.metromile.com/insurance or call 888-761-9062 for information.

Metromile makes every car a smart car with the Metromile Pulse. The Pulse plugs into the standard OBII port and is used to track mileage and provide car data, such as driving stats, engine health and car location. It’s even been used to recover stolen cars!

Metromile doesn’t think traditional car insurance is fair to drivers like you – in fact, 64% of drivers pay higher premiums to subsidize the minority who drive the most. If you drive less, you really should pay less for car insurance. Using data gathered from Metromile Pulse, an OBD-II device that plugs into your car’s computer system, drivers only pay a few cents per mile with a low base rate each month for full coverage. Metromile also connects your car to your smartphone to offer features including car health information (diagnostic trouble codes), car location and customizable trip logs.

Be sure to check out Metromile and take advantage of the savings you can get with Pay-Per-Mile Insurance!

  2. What a great idea! I’m on the road a lot, so this wouldn’t be for me, but I have a couple of friends who don’t do a lot of driving who could really use this.

This is a really neat option for people that don’t have to drive much. I am always in the car, but I like the concept!

I drive way too many miles a year for this to be worth it to me. My mother on the other hand definitely drives less than 10k miles per year so I will be passing along the information to her.

This is a really great idea, since I rarely drive far with exception of two weekends a month road trips I would much rather try to pay for actual usage!

  7. I need that foot care package with monthly pedicures! Haha! Seriously though, on average I drive less than 10,000 miles a year. Paying a few cents per mile for full coverage sounds great!
