When I was a kid, allergies weren’t what they are today. Having a child with allergies can be a scary thing, especially when you aren’t there to protect them all the time. You can feel better knowing your child is protected with AllerMates. AllerMates is a band created by a mom for moms that caters to families with kids who have food allergies, food intolerances, asthma or other health concerns.

AllerMates was founded by a mom who was inspired by her food allergic son to set out and change the world of food allergies for kids. Now thanks to that mom on a mission, AllerMates products are sold in over 5,000 stores including CVS Health! The AllerMates product line consists of medical awareness bracelets and charms, medicine cases, activity books and more, each designed with fun AllerMates characters to make allergies and other health issues less intimidating for kids. We also recently launched a subscription box service that delivers allergy-friendly foods directly to kids’ doors, so parents can discover new brands that are safe and delicious, too.

Who Founded AllerMates?

AllerMates was founded by Iris, mom of 3. When her son Ben was diagnosed with severe food allergies and asthma, she wanted to find a way to teach him about his health concerns in a way that was fun and non-intimidating.

One day, she drew up a few allergy-related characters and wrote funny stories and poems about them. Her kids loved helping her come up with silly names for them. Next thing she knew was that their friends were asking to see the characters they had created again and again until they too knew all of their names and stories by heart.

They showed her that kids are eager to understand health issues when there is a friendly and engaging way to learn about them.

AllerMates was born.

As she began to create these fun things for kids to help educate and protect them, it occurred to her that parents could benefit from having easy-to-understand info, too. She pointed out that as Moms and Dads, we are our children’s first and best educators, and teaching them about their health is one of the most important things we do. It builds confidence and assists in keeping them safe as they navigate an unpredictable world.

Today, the AllerMates community is made up of thousands of parents, children, caregivers and educators, who rely on our simple, friendly and reliable resources to do just that. From their free online educational materials to their popular medical alert bracelets (now available in over 5,000 stores and in several countries – wow!) and beyond, AllerMates is here to help us and our kids grow stronger and healthier together!

Where Can You Find AllerMates?
