It’s the start of a brand new year and what does that mean? Lots of resolutions being made to lose weight or go on diets, rights? What if I told you there was a way to lose weight without going on a diet? What’s more interesting is that it was a book written without the initial intention of focusing on weight lossThe Prime was written by Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary, M.D. and I had the chance to interview her along with other bloggers on December 17th.

Blogger Interview with Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary, M.D.

In the call, we had the chance to learn more about Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary and her book, as well as ask questions we had about the book. We learned that Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary is an integrative neurologist who has been working in San Diego for over a decade. The Prime was never intended to be a weight loss book, but was actually a program used to reverse neurological conditions. When she first approached writing the book, she was mainly talking about multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. It was when she mentioned that, because it’s getting rid of the toxic inflammation, most of her patients would also lose weight pretty significantly, that she embraced the idea of writing the book. She saw in her practice that when her patients were recovering from the devastating disease and started noticing their clothes were fitting better, they became more motivated do it. Rather than going against the grain, she accepted that weight loss is important to people, and if they’re willing to come to this program because it helps them to lose weight spontaneously, so be it. It also helps to completely change the way that people’s brains are functioning, the way their digestion is functioning, and it helps them to live a much fuller life. So, that’s the brief backup of the book.

Blogger:  I’m very interested in what you have to say about repairing your body, but for my readers, I think at the time that at the beginning of the year, many of them are going to be on Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, and all kinds of different plans. This seems to be the pre-plan, so what would you say to them about incorporating this book into what they’re already doing?

Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary: I love that you are asking this question. We couldn’t have started off with a better question because this is what I’ve been saying. It’s not that I have an opposition to what these plans are trying to do. I think it’s fantastic that people are trying to teach people who want to lose weight how to change the way that they’re eating.

But there’s this really important biochemical step missing. It’s a little bit like sending somebody out in the world to climb a mountain, then saying, I’m sorry, I forgot to give you the rope, and the shoes that you need to be wearing, and all the other tools that you expect them to use when they’re climbing that mountain. So I’m not against the climb, but give them the appropriate tools, so they’re like, “Hey, I’m actually scaling this thing, and I’m succeeding.”

What I would say is that there’s a step before you take that next step. Because I was trying to reverse neurological conditions, it was so obvious that I had to take that step in order to stop the brain from degenerating, but it’s the same step that you have to take to change the way that you’re eating.

I agree that you have to change the way that you’re eating, but we’re making people do it in the absolute hardest possible way.

That was actually one of my favorite questions during the conversation and really gave me greater insight as to why she was writing the book.

ABOUT THE PRIME: Prepare and Repair Your Body for Spontaneous Weight Loss

LOSE WEIGHT, GET SHARPER… NO DIET REQUIRED.

Integrative neurologist Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary discovered a beautiful side effect to the eating and lifestyle tools she gave her brain patients–shedding excess pounds. In this, her first book, she shows readers that weight gain is a result of the body being in a toxic, inflammatory state. If your body is not prepared or ‘primed’ for weight loss, you will fight an uphill biochemical battle, and the odds of succeeding are slim. So she’s reverse engineered our way of eating, so we can stop dieting backward and start succeeding instead.

Using a blend of cutting-edge science and ancient wisdom, Dr. Chaudhary has crafted a plan like no other. In it, she shares:

  • The importance of neuroadaptation, food addiction, and the brain (or, why it’s not your fault that dieting has been so hard in the past!)
  • Why it’s not what you eat, but what you digest
  • How to determine if you have a Leaky Brain—and what The Prime can do about it (hint: everything)
  • The 4 Stages of the Prime
    • Activate a Biochemical Shift
    • Crush Cravings (No Willpower Required)
    • Ignite Energy and Fat
    • Biohack Your Lifestyle Habits

… and how they’ll help you spontaneously shed pounds, by adding (not subtracting) simple teas and supplements and without giving up any foods you love.

Lastly, you’ll learn how to live fully Primed, the secrets of the Super-Primed, and, when you’re ready to explore new foods, how to eat according to your unique constitution.

    • Molly says:

      Dr. Chaudrey,
First I wanted to thank you for your book. It was recommended to me because I deal with severe stomach problems. (If there is weight loss, it will be an added benefit) I am still in stage 1 and going strong. I rated very high on the gut test. Results are slow in my case but still moving forward. My question is regarding my daughter (15) who I would like to do the prime
also. I am vata dominate and LOVE the tea and warm water recommendation. However, my daughter (seems to be pitta dominate) HATES all hot liquids (soups, teas, coffee ect.) She has always
been this way and she cant bring herself to start the prime for this reason! Is there any recommendations you can give us? Any help would be great. I would love for her to try this!

  6. Barbara says:

Because I don’t like the word diet and I really need to understand what it is happening in my brain, in my gut; I’d like to know how to handle stress and to teach and prove to my kids how to keep themself clean from the ‘bad food’ that it is out there. How to have fun exercising even with them. To be a happier person. Thank you.

  7. Elisse says:

Apparently I have “leaky gut”- I have most of the symptoms- and it is extremely difficult for me to lose weight no matter what I do. I truly think she may have an answer here that will help me- and I must read it whether I win or not!

  8. Jaque R. says:

As time passes, I find my body changing in a less than positive way….I would like to correct that trend. 🙂 Thank you.

  13. Julia Barnes says:

I’d love to read this book as I am actively trying to lose weight.

  14. Rina says:

Why I would like to read this book? Because from what I know, Ayurveda is one of the oldest holistic all body healing systems. I have started my research into mediation, Buddhism, and vegan eating. I would like to read this book so I can gain a better understanding of the process and benefits of Ayurvedic ideals. I also have terrible headaches and stomach digestion problems. I would like a non western way to heal these issues. I believe that The Prime will provide a great additional resource for my knowledge.
    Thank you,
    Rina

  15. Sand says:

I would like to read it because I’m open to all avenues to improving my life!

  16. Lily Kwan says:
