I recently had the opportunity to participate in the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap, in which I both sent and received cookies! It was so much fun! I received some really yummy cookies and hope the bloggers enjoyed the cookies I sent to them as well!

I love chocolate and felt like I had to make a chocolate cookie recipe. In fact, this is one I’ve made for many years (but never posted on the blog – can you believe it)? They are called Snowy Dirt Cookies and are so easy to make and definitely more-ish (meaning you want more when you start eating them)! Most of all, I love that they don’t require butter in the recipe. This means that you don’t need a blender and just need time to let the dough chill in the refrigerator. Check out the recipe for Snowy Dirt Cookies.

How to Make Snowy Dirt Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup HERSHEY’S Cocoa
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions:

1. Combine granulated sugar and oil in large bowl; add cocoa, mixing until well blended. Mix eggs in a separate bowl and then add vanilla. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to cocoa mixture, beating well.

2. Cover and refrigerate until dough is firm enough to handle, at least 6 hours (I prefer overnight).

3.  Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease cookie sheet or line with parchment paper. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in powdered sugar to coat. Place about 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheet.

4. Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched lightly and tops are crackled. Cool slightly. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Makes about 48 cookies.
