I love to eat at Wendy’s! In fact, my favorite items on the menu are the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Fries and a Frosty. On our most recent trip, I picked up Frosty’s for all 6 of our kids and noticed the cups had special drawings on them. They were unlike any cups I had seen before!

To highlight the power of foster care adoption through a child‘s eyes, Wendy’s is showcasing the artwork of four children who have been adopted through the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Program on cold beverage and specialty drink cups. The children‘s illustrations are of special “Family First” moments. These stories come to life when customers visit Wendy’s adoption page, where they can watch an animated video of the “Family First” moments.

Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas, was an adopted child and knew first-hand the importance of having a family. Wendy’s passionately supports the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, which Dave Thomas founded in 1992. The foundation works hard to find permanent, loving homes for more than 130,000 children waiting in North America’s foster care system. It’s amazing what the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program has done! It has served more than 11,500 children and has helped more than 4,500 children be adopted. Dave Thomas believed that children in foster care “aren’t someone else’s responsibility, they are our responsibility.” Wendy’s continues to support that belief through fundraising and collaboration with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

Throughout the month of November, Wendy’s is showcasing adopted children‘s illustrations of a special “family first” moment on their cold beverage and specialty cups. The four separate drawings bring to life the power of foster care adoption through a child‘s eyes, highlighting everyday family moments that most of us take for granted, such as a day at the beach. The children‘s stories come to life when customers head to www.wendys.com/adoption. There they will become a part of the “family first” moment by listening to and watching an animated illustration.

The four adopted children include:

Angel (age 11 – adopted in 2012) – Angel remembers how special her 10th birthday was with her new family (especially the four-legged family member). Watch the video HERE.

Olivia (age 11 – adopted in 2014) – Olivia shares the memory of her very first vacation to the beach with her new forever family at age 10.  Watch the video HERE.

Richard (age 9 – adopted in 2014) – Richard tells the “super cool” story of his first time going to the zoo with his new mom and dad at age 8. Watch the video HERE.

Rigo (age 16 – adopted in 2012) – Rigo remembers his first trip to the amusement park with his new dad at age 12. Watch the video HERE.

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has done an awesome job working with Wendy’s to establish the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Program to focus on children who have been waiting the longest in the foster care system. Through the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Program, special recruiters are hired to work on caseloads of children and give each child as much attention as he or she deserves. These recruiters employ aggressive practices and proven tactics, taking into account the needs of the children they serve, to find the children their forever homes. Children referred to the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program are up to three times more likely to get adopted. Through the program, more than 5,000 children in foster care have been adopted into permanent, loving homes. Pretty dang awesome, don’t you think?

I absolutely love these cups. My uncle is adopted and he had such a great life compared to what he would have had if he had not been.

I like Wendy’s food. My fave is the Junior Bacon Cheeseburger. I love that it supports placing children in permanent homes and I think the cups are a great way to showcase the greatness of the Foundation.
