Thanksgiving Throwback + Butterball Turkey Giveaway
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year! Not only is it because it’s a special time to gather family and friends and enjoy good food, but because of two other special reasons. First, my oldest son was born the day after Thanksgiving almost 12 years ago. And second, two Thanksgivings ago, my husband asked me to marry him! Needless to say, Thanksgiving holds a very special place in my heart and I strive to make every year special!
You may notice on social media an ongoing weekly theme called Throwback Thursday (aka #TBT). It’s a lot of fun to look at and participate in. I love it because it gives me a reason to share old pictures – ha ha! This year, our favorite turkey brand, Butterball, is playing off that theme. This year, they are encouraging families and friends to throwback to their favorite Thanksgiving memory by posting Thanksgiving family photos and vintage dishes on their page! Like maybe the Jell-O mold with vegetables inside (eww)?
I don’t know about you, but every year, we enjoy Butterball turkeys at our Thanksgiving table! No matter when I’ve looked back, Butterball has always been there (literally). From my childhood to having children of my own, Butterball is the go-to turkey brand for our family! This year, Butterball is bringing the past to the present by opening the Butterball archives to share their favorite throwback recipes, memories of Turkey Talk-Line calls, debunking cooking method myths throughout the years and more.

I like that the family gets together for a nice dinner. We also watch the parades and watch football all day. The best part is the food and my Mom’s stuffing. It’s the best stuffing.
My favorite Thanksgiving memories are large family dinners around the table.
We ran all over for Thanksgivings for years, until I had my 6th baby. When she was 1 I decided to put my foot down and do our own at home. The first time I made the whole entire meal by myself, with a ton of baking, I was very proud of myself, plus so happy to not be on the road with a mess of kids. Thats our tradition now. Relaxing after a meal. and cleaning up of course. lots of leftovers so no need to cook at all on Black Friday!
My special memory is when we go around the table and say what we are thankful for.
My favorite Thanksgiving memory is cooking Thanksgiving meals with my grandma
All of the Thanksgivings that we had at my grandmother’s house when I was a kid were great memories. She prepared and cooked all of the food by herself so it was homemade and so very good and all of our family was always there together. Now, we hardly have any of the family around anymore so it make the memories all too sweet. Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway!

One of my favorite memories is going to my great Aunt’s house when I was about 6 and having my Grandparents there and my Aunt had the table set very fancy.
My mom cooking a huge meal & family, friends & neighbors coming over to share in Thanksgiving.
I remember cooking my first real Thanksgiving meal and running around like a chicken with my head cut off. It was a good feeling to cook for everyone myself.
I started laughing with water in my mouth and then spit it all over the table when I was starting to choke
My favorite Thanksgiving memory is watching and helping my mom cook dinner for us when I was a kid.
my best memory is the first year I cooked the turkey,,i didn’t know it had stuff inside so it got cooked with it inside,,my dad thought that was so funny,,he would ask me every year if I remember to take the giblets out before cooking
My last Thanksgiving with my Dad- a few weeks later he died of a diabetic coma.
We had a good meal, some laughs, and I introduced him to my fiancee, this was back in 1997.
My special memory was learning to cook with my grandma! Now I’ve taken over thanksgiving dinner all on my own!
My special memory is my first Thanksgiving with my Husband, it was very special because his deployment was immediately after and we knew it was the last holiday together for a long time.
I fondly remember my mom patiently teaching me how to make pumpkin pie.

One of my best memories is whaan our famiy drove cross country to viit my Grandparents. It was wonderful the meal was great. We saaw cousins we hadnt seen in years . It wsa so fun and I will never forget it.
My favorite memory was our dad taking us to the mess hall for Thanksgiving. Great food!!!
Nothing really stands out. All our Thanksgivings are pretty much the same. They’re great and all, getting to see and spend time with all my family, but nothing really memorable has ever happened.

Crowding around the table in grandma’s tiny house – tons of food and lots of conversation and laughter. We had to sit at the table all day because there was no where else everyone could fit!
Thanksgiving 1998 when my family shared our last Thanksgiving all together. This was the best year ever.
My favorite memory from Thanksgiving was when I made it to the adults table, no more kids table for me! I felt so special, eating with the grown-ups! Being with all my family members and saying grace before eating.

Thanksgiving last year was very special and we’ve lost 4 family members since last Thanksgiving. Last Thanksgiving was the last time that entire family was together.

I remember helping my Mom prepare the Thanksgiving dinner.
MY #TBT memory is was when my daughter came up to me and discovered she was taller than me. Oh I was heartbroken. My baby was growing up! But it is a funny memory :).
Some of my favorite Thanksgiving memories is spending time with my cousins.
My most special Thanksgiving memory I have was being able to spend it with my dad before he passed away two months later back in 2012.

When I was a small child, my grandfather, father and uncles would go hunting for our Thanksgiving meal. So we would have pheasant or duck along with the usual holiday sides.
I can remember us gathering together to share those special meals.
