Hiking Challenge – Woodlands Trail, Nipomo
We’ve all been in the position of trying to stuff a lot of things to do into a short amount of time. Whether it’s running errands, going to appointments, or having to pick up the kids of a half-day. Arleena and I were pressed on time, and decided to stay local and find some kind of trail to explore in Nipomo. This wasn’t a fancy trail or a difficult hike, but it’s always fun to find a new adventure in your own “backyard.”
We drove to the end of Eucalyptus Road and started walking into the vast Eucalyptus groves. On this really hot day, the trees provided the shade we needed and the soft, really soft sand gave our legs a nice workout. There were several pathways for us to choose. This would be a great place to ride horses (if only we knew friends who would let us borrow some) or take your dogs for a walk. In order to complete safe hiking tours like this one, you can use this link more information on packing and security cords.
With a few lefts and a few more rights we found ourselves at the edge of the grove on a more compacted roadway. We followed the dirt road to a nice clearing where we could see all the way to the sea. You can see where they’re clearing the Eucalyptus tress to make way for new development. I found a sandbox worth of sand in my shoes when I emptied them out.
Instead of adventuring back into the groves we decided to follow a road to civilization and came upon the golfing community of Trilogy. We walked through the beautifully manicured neighborhood and passed by the golf course, Monarch Dunes.
As we meandered pass the golf course, the sun was beating down on us driving us to pick up the pace so we could get back into our nice air-conditioned car. Even though this isn’t our typical mountain-climbing hike, it still felt good to get outside and get some exercise. I know I always feel better after some kind of physical fitness.
What do you do when you have a short amount of time to exercise? Do you workout to a video or get outside?

This Hiking Trail looks like a lot of fun! I like the trail and the wonderful scenery to keep me going. I think it would be great to walk here often.
Thanks Julie! I’m looking forward to taking the kids there. I think they’ll really enjoy it.
