As a woman, I have dreamed about my wedding day and what I would look like as a bride who walks down the aisle. I’ve imagined what my kids would look like before I was pregnant with them. I’ve even thought about what I’ll look like when I’m a grandma someday. Something I’ve never thought about is how I would feel if I had cancer.

I’ve had women in my life who were family members and friends who’ve found out they had cancer. Some battled it and won while others didn’t. Cancer is a horrible thing that I wish we had a cure for, but don’t.

The appearance changes that women go through while coping with cancer treatment are far more than skin deep. These changes can impact her self-esteem and take away the courage and confidence she needs to face one of the toughest battles of her life. How do these women deal with these changes? One program that helps women cope with these changes is called Look Good Feel Better.

During its 25th anniversary, Look Good Feel Better is encouraging women to Reimagine Beauty and its meaning and importance to women undergoing cancer treatment, i.e. cervical, breast, or skin cancer treatment such as Mohs surgery in Charlotte, NC. Look Good Feel Better, with the support of its collaborators, encourages women to take a fresh look at the impact of beauty and a positive self-image, as well as understand how it can make a huge different (both inside and out). By being aware of the appearance challenges women with cancer face – and knowing how Look Good Feel Better can help – women everywhere can lend a hand during this milestone year by simply referring someone living with cancer to the program; making a donation; or posting information on their social media profiles.

How can you show your support of the Look Good Feel Better Program and it’s 25th anniversary? Here are 3 simple ways:

1 – Visit the Look Good Feel Better website to find workshops.

2 – Use the Look Good Feel Better Virtual Makeover tool by uploading your photo and trying the new hair and makeup looks. Through this experience, women everywhere can experience, in a small way, the help women living with cancer receive during a Look Good Feel Better workshop so they can “reimagine beauty” and the impact Look Good Feel Better can have on women undergoing cancer treatment.

3 – Share the “after” photo from the Virtual Makeover tool on Facebook or Twitter, using the hashtag #ReimagineBeauty, to spread awareness and to be entered for a chance to win a trip to the National Women’s Survivors Convention to participate in the Look Good Feel Better 25th Anniversary Party.

***Look Good Feel Better is offering one participant the chance to win a trip to the National Women’s Survivors Convention in Nashville, TN July 31 through August 2, 2014 to connect her with other women who have survived cancer.  The winner will be randomly selected from all photos shared on Facebook and Twitter during the campaign, using the hashtag #ReimagineBeauty.

Look Good Feel Better also encourages women to share their personal story – either their personal experience with Look Good Feel Better; the importance of regaining their normal appearance to their hope and confidence or honoring a friend or family member who has been touched by cancer – via their personal social channels when sharing their photo or commenting on the blog posts about the campaign, and to visit the Look Good Feel Better website to learn more and donate to support the organization.
