Growing up, I remember opening up Valentine’s Day Cards from my parents and my grandma.  I always looked for the Hallmark symbol on the back of the card.  At one point, I even had cards I had collected over the years from my family.  Unfortunately, these cards were lost in one of the many moves I went through.  Although the physical cards themselves were lost, I still remember the excitement of tearing open those colorful envelopes and reading the message inside the card, as well as the handwritten notes that were included.

Now, we have a big family and this Valentine’s Day we have all 6 of the kids, so I wanted to make sure we did something really special for all of them.  The first step was to find Valentine’s Day cards for each of them, as well as for Frank, my two sets of parents and my future in-laws.  I knew there were a lot of cards at Walmart, but there was an even larger selection of Hallmark Valentine’s Day Cards!  I’m talking two aisles and a display in the middle of the main aisle.

There were so many cards to choose from!!!  I easily spent an hour and a half enjoying all of the cards I was looking through and finally narrowed it down to ten cards.  I selected six cards for the kids (priced at 97 cents each) and then a card for Frank, my mom and stepdad, dad and stepmom and future in-laws.  I was really happy with the selection I found and couldn’t wait to get home to write my personal messages and put together our kids’ Valentine’s Day goodies!

For the kids, I found some cute Hallmark Valentine’s Day Value Cards.  Hallmark Value Cards are priced at less than $1.00 each.  They have cards that are 97 cents each and 47 cents each.  I love that these are budget-friendly (especially when buying for a big family).

I loved the cards I found for our parents!  I chose the one with the wood-like frame for my mom and stepdad because it was pretty (reminding me of my mom) and it had a wooden frame (reminding me of my stepdad and the building he does).  I chose the second card for my parents because they are very special to me and this is just one way I know they feel loved because card giving has always been big to them.  I chose the third card for my future in-laws (Helen and Ron) because Helen decorates amazing cakes and seeing this card instantly reminded me of her.

Frank and I don’t really exchange cards, so I decided to go with a simple, yet meaningful one for him.  I love it because not only is it simple, but it pops open and the words inside the card are totally true!  I am so happy he is in our lives and I love him so much!!

When I got home, I looked through my cards again and turned them over so the UPC was facing up.  This made it much easier when it was time to scan the codes (or enter the codes) into the Hallmark Rewards App on my smartphone.  I tried to get a picture, but the app scanned the UPC codes really fast.  I had all 10 cards scanned within a few minutes!!!

After entering the codes from the cards into the app, I started writing personal messages and signing the cards.  Plus, I put together special Valentine’s Day goodie bags for the kids.  I know they’re gonna love them (hint – they’re full of chocolate)!!!

  1. Cards are kind of a big deal in our house. 😉 I love hallmark cards. I had no idea there was a reward system though! How did I not know this?
