“Celebrate the Lil’ Things” with Pillsbury Funfetti Lil’ Donut Kits
Our kids LOVE sweets – I mean, what kid doesn’t, right? They especially love donuts, but those can get pretty pricey buying them for six kids every now and then. This is where Pillsbury comes to save the day! We had the opportunity to check out the new Pillsbury® Funfetti Lil’ Donut Kits and make homemade donuts…without a donut pan or fryer. Let me tell you, they are awesome!!
The Pillsbury Funfetti Lil’ Donuts are easy to make and so yummy to eat! Pillsbury makes it easy for the whole family to celebrate the big and lil’ moments together in the kitchen with the Lil’ Donut Kits. The Pillsbury Funfetti Lil’ Donut Kits include almost everything you need to make 24 mini donuts – just add butter, water and milk.
Not only are the Pillsbury Funfetti Lil’ Donut Kits fun and easy to make, but there are 3 different flavors to choose from. My personal favorite is the Funfetti Glazed Chocolate Lil’ Donut Kit. There is also the Funfetti Maple Glazed Lil’ Donut Kit and the Funfetti Vanilla Glazed Lil’ Donut Kit.
Check out how easy it is to make the Funfetti Lil’ Donuts with your family!
Step 1 – Turn on Your Oven. Set your oven to 375°F. Coat baking sheet with no-stick cooking spray. For the best results, your butter should be completely softened or slightly melted. To soften butter directly from the refrigerator, heat in microwave unwrapped for 10-15 seconds. You can use margarine or spread in the place of butter.
Step 2 – Combine ingredients. First, you want to combine the glaze mix and milk in a small bowl. Then you’ll mix by hand until blended and set aside. Next, combine the donut mix, water and butter in a large bowl. Mix until the dough is formed. Shape the dough by rounded teaspoons into tightly rolled balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 3 – Bake. Bake at 375°F for 10-12 minutes and then allow them to cool for 2 minutes.
Step 4 – Dip the donuts. Next, you will dip each donut into the glaze and coat evenly. Remove the donut and allow excess glaze to drip off. Place the donuts on wax paper-lined baking sheet or cooling rack: immediately sprinkle with candy bits. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Store the donuts in an airtight container. **Note: if the glaze is thick, you can add up to 2 teaspoons of milk to thin the glaze.**
The kids were so excited to dig into the homemade donuts and let me tell you, they went fast! The favorite of everyone was the Chocolate flavor – I mean we are a chocolate loving family, so that was no surprise. Corrine had a blast helping in the kitchen and is excited to make them again soon…perhaps when all 6 kids are together.
I have 3 fun tips when it comes to entertaining and making the Pillsbury Lil’ Donuts:
– Get the kids involved. It’s fun to eat yummy treats, but it’s even more memorable when your kids get involved in the baking process. They love helping in the kitchen and then seeing the end result of everyone enjoying their homemade goodies.
– Let the kids decorate their own donuts. Although we didn’t have the kids decorate their own donuts this time around, I think we will next time. Kids love to get creative and what better way than with something they’ll eat?
– Use different toppings. You could easily decorate the donuts for a variety of holidays with different colored sprinkles. The Maple flavored donuts already have a Fall/Halloween theme variety of sprinkles, but for the others, simply replace with holiday-themed sprinkles. You could also top them with chocolate chips or coconut.
