Young Couple Dressed For Party

I remember being in high school and how important it was when it came to time to pick out the perfect dress for each of the dances I attended.  The dances I remember attending were Homecoming, Winter Formal, Sadie Hawkins and Prom.  Not only was it special to wear a beautiful dress that fit my figure, but picking out the dress was also a memorable experience.

Now that we are nearing the end of September, Homecoming is just around the corner and it’s time to pick out the perfect Homecoming dress.  You want to feel beautiful, while having fun in your Homecoming dress.  This will be a memory you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life.  Here are 5 Tips on Picking Out the Perfect Homecoming Dress.

5 Tips on How to Pick Out the Perfect Homecoming Dress

1 – Set a budget.  It can get expensive rather quickly when it comes to shopping for a Homecoming dress, so be sure to set a budget on how much you are willing to spend on the dress, shoes, and accessories.

2 – Research magazines or online.  There are so many different styles, colors and textures out there when it comes to picking out a Homecoming dress.  Look through a variety of fashion (or modern) magazines for inspiration on finding a dress.  There are a lot of great options online, such as at Dress First,  to choose from as well!

3 – Adhere to school dress codes.  Some schools have dress codes and are rather strict when it comes to dances and other celebratory events.  Find out if your school has a dress code and select a dress that falls within the guidelines.

4 – Select the fit that’s right for YOU!  Everyone has different body types with different weights, heights, shades of skin and hair colors.  While a particular style might be “in,” it may not necessarily be the right look or fit for your body.  Have fun and try on a lot of different styles until you find the one that’s perfect for you!

5 – Accentuate the look with accessories, makeup and hair.  Remember, accessories, makeup and hair can significantly stylize the look of your dress.  Be sure to stay away from any styles that are loud or extreme.  Trust me, you’ll have these pictures for the rest of your life and you don’t want to have a Homecoming look that you’re embarrassed to show your kids or grandkids!

My Niece got a really nice dress for Homecoming for a great deal. She looks so pretty in her dress, and the tip I have is to look early for a dress. She found a dress months ago marked down.

Julie – that is a great idea! Doesn’t seem like you can start shopping too early – that’s for sure. 🙂
