Travel: Go on the Ultimate Family Adventure to LEGOLAND Hotel This Summer!

 
Our family received hotel accommodations and passes to the LEGOLAND California Resort as a part of this media trip.  All opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.

A few months ago, my family and I had the opportunity to go on the Ultimate Family Adventure to LEGOLAND Hotel at the LEGOLAND California Resort in Carlsbad, California.  It was an amazing adventure and one that I took on my own with my three boys.  Yep, that’s right – 1 mama + 3 little boys who love LEGOs.  They had so much fun and didn’t even want to leave!  Here’s a peak into the newly opened LEGOLAND Hotel at the LEGOLAND California Resort in Carlsbad, California.

As you pull up to the LEGOLAND Hotel, you’ll notice giant LEGO figures greeting you.  As soon as we pulled up, we had a hotel staff member greet us and offer to carry our luggage into the lobby.  The boys got a kick out of standing next to the giant sized LEGO figures and even got a picture on the luggage cart – ha ha!  Created to bring children’s imaginations to life, the 250-room, three-story LEGOLAND Hotel opened its doors after a ceremony showcased the three room themes based on the most popular LEGO toy lines in the family theme park: Kingdom, Adventure and Pirate.  Confetti blasts showered the dragon created out of 400,000 LEGO bricks and hundreds of guests and members of the media as they flowed into the Hotel where they were surrounded by an interactive LEGO world designed for children age two to 12 and their families.

You think the entrance is cool?  Well, just wait until you walk into the actual LEGOLAND Hotel itself – wow!  As soon as you walk in, you see a mote filled with LEGOs and a tall beam that the kids can build their LEGOs on.  Then you head over to the check-in counter where there is a wall of LEGO Mini Figures and a larger LEGO figure on a bicycle with a magnifying glass that shows an up-close view of each of the figures.  After checking in, we received a LEGO bag filled with goodies, including LEGO sets, VIP badges for the boys and tickets for the LEGOLAND Resort the following day.  Then it was up to our room to get ready for dinner.

Walking up to the room was an adventure!  I was so impressed, and the boys were so excited, by all of the LEGO-themed directions throughout the LEGOLAND Hotel.  There were even figures in the hallway that were interactive with the kids.  Normally, you think of a plain, boring walk to your hotel room, right?  Not at the LEGOLAND Hotel.  Heck, even the elevator has a squishy floor and disco music with a spinning disco ball at the top.  Who knew riding an elevator could be so much fun!

Now for the room!  Wow!  The boys LOVED the Adventure-themed room and had a blast searching through the room and discovering new decorations.  Let’s not forget “their” room with the bunk bed, games on the wall, and their own tv!  They were so excited and were definitely happy and exclaiming how cool it was to have a mom as a blogger who got these awesome opps!

LEGOLAND Hotel offers a selection of themed and premium themed rooms along with junior an family suites.  Premium themed rooms have addition LEGO models and décor such as themed wall paper.  Suites include an extra TV and doors that adjoin to the next room.  Children have their own sleeping are in every room complete with bunk beds, a trundle bed and their own TV.  Special amenities in each room are designed with children in mind, such as the lowered peephole and toilet training seats that can be used with every toilet.

The boys also loved the fact that there was a tub of LEGO building blocks for them to play with in the room.  Plus, they could bring up to the room whatever they were building downstairs in the interactive areas.  Interactive areas, you ask?  Yep, that’s what I said.  Check it out!

Interactive features include a Castle Play area, a talking and water spraying dragon on the patio, a LEGO play pit in the reception area and a treasure hunt inside the rooms where younger guests search for clues to open a locked safe filled with LEGO treasure! The Castle Play area is the hub for imagination and fun at LEGOLAND Hotel. Based on the LEGO Kingdom, Pirate and Adventure lines, the area features a pirate ship attempting to dock in a LEGO filled moat next to an interactive castle. Young guests can pull on a handle as they enter the castle causing theLEGO ogre above them to roar. Nightly entertainment takes place on the castle stage as a pirate, princess, knight or adventurer interact with young guests to get them ready for bedtime.     

Last but not least is the food available in the LEGOLAND Hotel.  We enjoyed dinner at the Bricks Family Restaurant, which serves a breakfast and dinner buffet with a station designed specifically for kids at a height they can reach.  Also available is Mini’s Lounge (adjacent to the Castle Play area) and the Skyline Cafe, which features a LEGO city skyline with 35 fun scenes including a woman fighting a turkey that came out of her oven, a man swimming in his apartment being chased by a shark and a woman holding a banana to try to entice a monkey off her balcony.  In the Bricks Family Restaurant, the boys enjoyed the foods, the self-serve drinks, self-serve desserts, coloring tablecloth and crayons.  That’s right – they could color the tablecloth while enjoying food or waiting for the adults to finish their meals.  It was a great experience! 

One other thing I noticed in the hotel was how cute the bathroom was!  It was made just for kids and totally LEGO-themed.  Sam loved the art on the doors and the height of the sinks!

OTHER FEATURES OF THE HOTEL:

A family of four LEGO dragons live within the Hotel: One smoke-breathing dragon at the entrance, a playful young dragon in the lobby sits on top of a handle and slowly spins it to make a LEGO river flow, a baby dragon peers over the ledge of the castle in the Castle Play area and an interactive bubble-blowing dragon named “Bubbles” is taking a bath on the patio as she playfully sprays water and “speaks” to young guests. 

The outdoor pool area, featuring a gradual incline 5-foot-deep swimming pool and a plethora of lounge chairs, gives guests a place to cool off after a day at the Park. Swim Up movies are shown at poolside Friday and Saturday nights during peak season. Surrounded by LEGO palm trees and views of the Hotel, even this pool area is a LEGO fans dream.
