I remember being a little girl and going to the toy store.  I would always first head to the aisle that was filled with pink – the Barbie aisle!!!  I also remember going to the Nutcracker Ballet in Los Angeles each holiday season with my stepmom.  I had a love for ballet and still do.  Now that I have Frank and his children in my life, I am able to share my love for Barbie and Ballet with a new DVD and doll with his girls!

Nothing says ballet like pink tutus.  All over the world, little girls love to dance and dream of becoming real-life ballerinas.  And with a little help from mom and dad, their dreams can come true!

Twelve years, 25 titles and 110 million+ DVDs sold to date, global icon Barbie continues her reign of top entertainment for kids with the Spring 2013 release,  Barbie in the Pink Shoes DVD, and accompanying toy line.

On February 27th, Barbie celebrated the DVD launch by teaming up with professional ballerina Jenelle Manzi of the New York City Ballet to give us tips on making little dancing diva’s dreams come true.

Through the help of motion capture technology, Jenelle’s dance moves are featured in the movie and contributes to a Barbie.com supplemental video, which shows girls how to do the movie’s dance moves!

From ballet class to the big stage, Jenelle will guide you through the many steps of becoming a real ballerina.  Here are a few points she will discuss:

–       How to become a ballerina

–       How Ballet/Dance can help your little one with self-esteem

–       Family support – How important it is to empower your little ones to achieve their dreams.

–       Barbie celebrates its 25th title with Barbie in the Pink Shoes, complete with tutu tutorials.

ABOUT BARBIE IN THE PINK SHOES

Dance your way to a magical adventure with Barbie as Krystyn, a ballerina with big dreams!  When she tries on a pair of sparkling pink shoes, she and her best friend, Haley, are whisked away to a fantastical ballet world.  There, Kristyn discovers she must dance in her favorite ballets in order to defeat an evil Snow Queen.  With performances to the legendary Giselle and Swan Lake ballets, it’s a wonderful journey where if you dance with your heart, dreams come true!

ABOUT JENELLE MANZI

Jenelle was born in Ridgwood, New Jersey and began her dance training at the age of four.  In 1999, Ms. Manzi began studying at The School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet.  While a student, Ms. Manzi originated a feature role in Christopher d’Amboise’s Tribute, as part of the SAB 2005 Annual Workshop.  In December 2005, Ms. Manzi became an apprentice with NYCB, and in February 2006, she joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet.
