Meet “The Croods” – The First Modern Family
Meet “The Croods” – Parent Blogger Summit 2013
I was recently invited to an awesome event held by 20th Century Fox and Dreamworks Animation – “The Croods” Parent Blogger Summit! I had seen previews of the movie, but nothing prepared me for this family-friendly, adventure-filled animated movie. The cast and story was awesome – and definitely kid- and adult-friendly! I found myself laughing, gasping, and cringing during different parts of the movie. Before I talk about the movie, I’d like you to meet “The Croods.”
GRUG – The Father
Being the father of a caveman family isn’t easy. First of all, pretty much everything outside our cave wants to eat us. If I could keep my family inside all the time I would, but unfortunately we have to go out once in a while for food and water. Once we find it, it’s right back inside. On the positive side, we spend a lot of time together. On the downside, it’s pretty dark in here so we really don’t see each other very much. But when it comes to my mother-in-law, that’s okay with me.
UGGA & SANDY – THE MOTHER & BABY
Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Living in the Croodaceous isn’t exactly a party, but there are really some nice things about it. Staying in a dark cave is really good for your skin, and we never have to worry about the neighbors being too loud since they were carried away by a dust storm a few summers ago. I do miss sharing mosquito burger recipes with the Throgs; they were nice cave people. But you never know, they might get blown back way someday.
EEP – The Daughter
My name is Eep, and I’m 19 summers old. I like to run, jump, and chase mammoths. Any chance I get, I like to lie in the sun. I guess because my family and I live in a cave. We’re the last cave in Crood Canyon….actually, we’re the only cave in Crood Canyon. I don’t get out much, probably because there’s a lot of stuff outside that wants to eat me. All that time inside doesn’t really interfere with my dating life because there aren’t any boys to date. The last dateable one was eaten a few years ago. I can’t complain though, because complaining hasn’t been invented yet.
THUNK – The Son
My name’s Thunk! I’m six feet tall, 280 pounds and nine years old. As the second man of the cave, I use my expert hunter-gatherer skills to help my family survive, although I sometimes tend to break an egg or two….My dad is the greatest person alive and like him, I have promised to never do anything new or different.
GRAN – The Mother-in-Law
My name is Gran. What’s it to you? I lived through the ice age. What did you do? Okay, I’m a little cranky, but you’d be cranky too if you were my age. Forty-six is as old as dirt in the Croodaceous. I’ve seen it all: man-eating plants, bone-crushing Macawnivores, you name it, but the thing that worries me the most is my son-in-law Grug. He’d be worthless if it weren’t for me keeping him in line.
GUY & BELT – The New Family Addition & His Pet Sidekick
Hi, I’m Guy. You might say I like to travel. In fact, I’ve been walking alone since I was a little kid. The alone time gives me lots of time to think. Like wondering where the rain comes from and where the suns go to sleep at night. Besides hanging out with my best friend, my pet sloth, Belt, I like coming up with ideas and inventing things. I also like hanging out with the Croods, except for the times when Eep’s Dad tries to kill me.
