I Love to Travel, But Should I Get Travel Insurance?

I love to travel and thanks to my blog, I have had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and even outside of the country!  I have visited Mexico, Russia and even Canada.  What if you were considering taking a vacation and bringing your family to Canada?  Would you get travel insurance?

Whether you’re traveling outside the country for business or for pleasure, buying health insurance is a smart idea.  You never know when you’re going to get sick or require emergency medical care, and without proper travel insurance, you could subject yourself and your family to potential risks and huge financial losses.

So, what is travel insurance?  Travel insurance helps to protect you and your family from unexpected costs due to medical emergencies when you are out of the country travelling.  For instance, a few days in a foreign hospital could cost you thousands of dollars.  That’s a lot of money!  Why would you risk so little on something that could save you so much?

What does travel insurance cover?  Most travel health insurance packages cover emergency medical treatment plus emergency ground and air ambulance costs, hospital accommodation and medication, doctors’ fees and many emergency-related travel expenses.
