Transferring Family Movies to DVD with YesVideo + Giveaway
Over the past few months, I’ve had the opportunity to be a YesVideo Ambassador and talk about a company that I have come to really appreciate! One of the tasks as an Ambassador was to use the service at my local Costco. Growing up, we had a huge video camera with VHS tapes that captured family memories, holidays, and a number of other things. Unfortunately, those tapes had been lost over the years. I was really bummed and uncertain about what I wanted to do for my experience.
Then I went through a bunch of pictures and pulled out quite a few from when I was a kid and from when my parents were married (they divorced when I was 9). I knew I would want to transfer pictures at some point, but I wanted to transfer home movies for this project! So, I started brainstorming and it came to me! I remember when we were visiting Frank’s parents and hanging out with his kids in Bakersfield this summer. They pulled out the old home movies and we all watched it together and I saw their faces – all of them. They were remembering those past memories and it was REAL for them!
So, I asked Frank and his parents if they would like me to use the YesVideo service and transfer those home movies to DVD for them. They were excited to know that they would be able to watch them whenever they wanted to by simply popping a DVD in rather than hooking up all the cords to the tv to watch them from the video camera. So it was off to Costco I went!
As soon as I walked into Costco, I showed my membership card and headed over to the Photo Station. I headed to one of the computers and started to enter my membership information in. I selected the DVD transfer service and then the number of tapes I wanted to transfer for the DVD. You can transfer footage of a maximum of 2 hours (or 2 tapes) to DVD for $17.99 – plus you get two DVDs from your order, not just one!
Once I entered the information, I clicked DONE and a yellow sticker receipt printed out. I had to do this process twice since I was transferring multiple videotapes and cassette tapes, but it had saved my personal information from the previous order (unless you click that your order is complete). After I removed my sticker receipt from the printer, I headed over to the customer service representative, paid for my order and then watched her as she bagged them up and got them ready to be sent off to the YesVideo processing center. My DVDs should be ready in three to four weeks! I can’t wait to see how they turn out!!! If you can’t go out, you can try other services such as EverPresent, which allows home pickups!
