You’ve heard of tailgating, but have you heard of homegating?  Homegating is basically the same as tailgating, but you do it at home!  With tight finances, going to a live football game can prove to be difficult, if not impossible!  At a homegating party, you can have family and friends and the love of football all in the comfort of your home.  It is a ton of fun!

For our homegating party, we headed to our local Sam’s Club and picked up a few packages of Cavanaugh Smoked Sausage and Polish Sausage.  We had not tried these before and were excited to create some fun dishes for our homegating party.  They were fairly big packages and only retailed for $9.48 each.

We started with Sausages wrapped in Crescent Rolls with Cheese.  First, we cut up the sausages.  Then we separated the Crescent Rolls and placed a slice of cheese, as well as a sausage.  Then we wrapped the Crescent Rolls around the cheese and sausage and put it in the oven.  We cooked them for 15 minutes at 375, or until their golden brown.  Serve and dip in ketchup, mustard, or barbecue sauce.

We also served sliced sausage cooked in barbecue sauce.  Yummy!  You can either cook it in a crockpot on low or heat in a microwave-safe dish.  We chose the latter for the get-together.  Serve warm!

Finally comes the grilling of the sausage for our homegating get-together.  There’s nothing like smoked sausage cooked over an open flame!  We cooked the sausage and then created a sausage sandwich, complete with cheddar cheese and lettuce.  It was so good!

Finally, it was time for dessert.  Complete with football-shaped brownies and Snickers football-themed candies.  The team we were routing for was the Chargers!  Everyone wore their team colors and some even had fun stickers or temporary tattoos on their faces.  It was a lot of fun!

I bet the crescent wrapped sausage was so good. I just did dipped in BBQ sauce. I clearly didn’t think outside of the box very well. And those brownies look DELICIOUS!!!
