Growing My Social Media Role with Collective Bias
Imagine a stay-at-home mom with 3 little boys, ages 4, 2, and newborn. She’s looking for a way to feel valued again and make a contribution to her family. She starts a blog and begins sharing her feelings on products she uses in her home and with her family. This mom I’m speaking of is ME.
I started The Mommy-Files in 2008 and began sharing my thoughts on different products we used in our home. I remember how excited I was when I had my first 10 followers, half of which were probably members of my family. After a few months, I had a long list of companies I was doing product reviews and giveaways with. As time went on, I began having companies email me.
I won’t ever forget when I received the email from Social Fabric (aka Collective Bias) in April of 2011. I still have the email in my inbox! It was the official email saying that my Social Fabric membership had been approved! Now I could start participating in “shoppertunities” and earning money for my family, while writing about brands and products that my family and I use and love!
As I’ve built my relationship with Collective Bias, I’ve worked with a variety of companies and experienced some amazing products and services! Not to mention the many team members I’ve come to know and develop a working, as well as personal relationship with.
In May of 2012, I expressed an interest to the team at Collective Bias in taking a more active role with the company. It was then that I applied and was accepted to become a Co-host for a variety of different Twitter parties. I have so much fun tweeting and sending shout-outs for these various brands, as well as interacting with participants and members of social media. I have been actively participating as a Twitter party Co-host at least a couple times a month and LOVE it!
In September of 2012, I again expressed an interest in growing my role as a member of the Collective Bias society. I applied to become a Campaign Leader and was accepted! I am now the Campaign Leader of my very first campaign for Kleenex #SharetheSoft and love it! Not only do I get to lead a campaign for an amazing brand with a fabulous product, I get to work with a variety of team members at Collective Bias and contribute to the success of the company!
I am so excited to grow with Collective Bias and look forward to a future of opportunities!
I received no compensation for this post. All opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.
I loved reading this. I could tear up just thinking about how much I love the Social Fabric community. This group, more than any other, has really helped me become more professional as a blogger and giving me MEANINGFUL work that helps support my family. It is an honor to be part of this group. Congratulations on stepping up your role with the group! I hope you will be a project lead for me one day! 🙂

Hey Shannon, I remember when you wrote me back in May telling me how much being involved in the Social Fabric Community had helped your family. You asked how you coud do more and I told you how excited we were to have you as a member, how you need to stay with it and build relationships. I connected you with Courtney and look where you are now. Truth be told… we are the lucky ones. Thanks for all you do and how much you care.
Congratulations. I’m looking forward to working with you.
