There are some things you just need to get a pair of eyes on. Whether it is your backyard to keep an eye on the kids while you’re cooking dinner, your front entryway, the animals that keep getting into everything, or just about anything you can imagine that you would like to monitor, when you can’t be in two places at once.

DropCam is a cool new surveillance camera that allows you to monitor just about anything with ease. The DropCam device doesn’t require expensive hardware or knowledge to get started. It’s a super simple plug and play solution that connects to any Wifi connection. Just plug the DropCam into your computer and follow the onscreen directions to setup your account. Once you have completed that and connected it to your Wifi, your DropCam is ready to mount. Once your account is setup you no longer have to have the DropCam connected to a computer.

The device comes with a stand so you can put it just about anywhere but if you prefer to mount it to a wall the stand doubles as a wall mount. The camera comes with an ac adapter that simply plugs into a standard wall outlet with the included USB cable making the entire process as easy as can be. The features of the camera are amazing and what you would normally see in much higher priced solutions.

Let’s start with the camera itself. It is an HD quality camera that supports 720P resolution and provides crystal clear video. It has night vision, which allows you to see clearly in dark areas, and works quite well. It has 2-way audio giving you the ability to listen and talk to anyone that may be located where the camera resides, this is especially helpful when monitoring those dogs getting into stuff. It has digital zoom allowing you to get up close and personal and motion detection, which will immediately notify you when there is movement.

This is all accessible right from your smartphone or tablet device. The DropCam includes free access to an App that will let you view your DropCam from anywhere. This truly provides peace of mind and lets you keep an eye on things when you are away. The app will notify you if there is movement or if the device becomes unplugged. You can use the 2 way audio to talk and listen right from the App as well as zoom in on anything in view.

One of the really cool features is the DropCam’s recording functionality. The company includes a 30day trial of recording that allows you to view and rewind past events. Though there is a small fee for this service after the trial it truly is a great part of the solution to have. You can review recordings at anytime from the APP or from a computer, and all of the files are saved on the web securely for only you to access. Though recording capability isn’t required for use of the Dropcam in live viewing mode it definitely comes in handy when you would like to review any past occurrences.

DropCam comes with Apps for most iOS devices including iPhone, Ipod Touch, iPad, as well as android devices, and Kindle Fire. You can also access directly from a PC or Mac through DropCam’s website, so monitoring from anywhere is truly available.  The DropCam solution will give you peace of mind, help you feel safer, and give you an easy way to be in two places at once. For this I highly recommend a DropCam for every home!

Oh how I would LOVE to have this I could be in the basement doing laundry and see the kids upstairs! The kids could be in the backyard getting fresh air and playing while I am in the house doing random chores or when sick (as I often am) I could keep an eye on them from wherever it is I need to be laid up at the time! With the few upcoming surgeries I have this would be great for all! The kids often need to come in my room and watch a movie until dad comes home when my illness hits hard! I think they would love this more than me!

  32. Nancy says:

Hello, my sister had a real scary incident about two months ago. We live in cottages and she has a nice little yard with a small gated fence ( I could jump over the fence if I needed to). She was just getting into bed when she heard a noise coming from her window (her bed is right up against the window wall). She jumped up and looked at the window and saw something and heard her gate open and shut. She freaked out of course and shes having trouble letting the incident go. Nothing happened but the fact that someone came into her yard, climbed up on her stone wall garden to look into her window without her hearing it was enough to bring up some past stuff I didn’t know about. Since then she double checks her locks and stops everything (tv radio talking whatever) to listen when she thinks someone is lurking outside. We live right on the outskirts of a shady neighborhoood so I’ve looked into security cameras just to give her some peace of mind but they are expensive and I am one broke sister. It would be awesome if I could gift that for her. It’s not going to solve her past but since her boyfriend moved out I think it would help her sleep better. Thanks for such a cool giveaway 🙂
