The Age of the Cell Phone

Do you remember the excitement when house phones had digital displays or when the first cordless phones came out?  Then there were pagers, followed by large cell phones.  Suddenly, cell phones seem to pop up in hands everywhere!  Now, I have to admit, I don’t know what I would do without my cell phone!  I pretty much use my cell phone for everything.  Whether it’s using Facetime (like webcam) with family, text messaging, surfing the internet, emailing, playing games, listening to music, taking pictures, using GPS, calendaring events and due dates – the list goes on and on.  Even my boys know how to use my cell phone and can’t wait to have their own.

As much as I love my cell phone, there are times when it drives me bonkers.  I’ll be driving home from work or while running errands, and talking to family or friends on my cell phone (with the bluetooth of course). Most often, I’ll be talking on the phone and then, all of a sudden, I’m talking to dead air.  Half of the time, I don’t even realize I’m talking to dead air until after a minute and I hear no response.  That is when I look at my phone and see the “Call Failed” message, or sometimes no message at all – just the date and time.  I do have to admit that I feel kind of silly and end up calling the person back (if they don’t call me first) and ask how much they heard.  If anything, I had just had a really good conversation with MYSELF!

One of the most important aspects of a good cell phone company is that good customer service is given.  That means employees on the other line are friendly, courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable about how to help you fix your cell phone problem as quickly and easily as possible.  Good customer service is what keeps you coming back for more services or for continuing your relationship when you can leave your contract.

This video definitely speaks loud and clear!  From it, I hear that U.S. Cellular wants their customers to know they care.  Chances are you’ve been frustrated with your wireless provider at least once. The wireless industry isn’t known for customer service. In fact, thousands of people vent about their wireless providers online every day. They point out problems left and right, but are rarely, if ever, offered any solutions. But U.S. Cellular is different – they actually care. So we’re asking you to let your voice be heard!

It also drives me nuts when the “call failed” or “message failed” notification pops up! I’ve been with Verizon forever, and on top of the little annoyances, the price keeps hiking up with fees.
