As parents, we want the best for our children.  We want them to learn as much as they can so they can grow up to be successful, happy adults.  That being said, how often do you find your children choosing something educational over watching TV?  Not too often, right?  Despite our best efforts to motivate our kids, learning often times takes a back seat to more attractive entertainment options.  DimensionU is here to help!  At DimensionU, you’ll find a fun, educational program that allows kids to play an action-packed computer game while simultaneously sharpening their math skills.  Yep, education and fun combined!

DimensionU has created an exciting outlet for children to learn while earning rewards for their hard work.  Through the reward-based ‘EdCred’ Educational Allowance system, DimensionU takes an innovative approach to motivating children to become stronger students..  Each week parents pledge an allowance, which kids can collect once they complete a given educational challenge.  A university study found that almost all students who used DimensionU increased their test scores by at least one letter grade.  How great is that?!!!

Brian is my oldest and he was the one that used DimensionU.  He loved the idea of receiving an Educational Allowance by answering questions and then having the opportunity to play games (while learning at the same time).  He was very excited to see the Angry Birds Knock on Wood Game as something he could earn by answering questions correctly.  I liked that the program had a savings calculator.  So not only does the program educate through games, it also teaches indirectly about earning and saving money.

Are you interested in signing your child up to use the DimensionU program?  It’s easy!  To try it out for free, simply visit DimensionU.com and click “Play Now” and then “Sign Up Now.”  This option will allow your child to have free access to the site.  If you want your child to have the opportunity to earn an allowance, you’ll have to sign up and enter your credit card information.  You will be charged $9.95 to activate the Educational Allowance Feature.  You will have the opportunity to fill out the “grown-up” portion (creating your account as the parent) and then the “child” portion (for his or her account).  You will receive reports on his or her academic progress, as well as have the opportunity to pledge a certain amount for the Educational Allowance.

what a great idea to pull kids away from TV and video games but not make them quit cold turkey 🙂 I like that they have games that kids can relate to (angry birds) and the allowance feature is great incentive.

neat! Positive reinforcement does work better than grounding them for bad grades or something like that.
