Time Home Entertainment and the editors of TIME For Kids teach kids to think like scientists with the Big Book of Science Experiments (Time Home Entertainment Inc.; December 6, 2011; $17.95). This new book, with more than 100 experiments provided by Mad Science and step-by-step instructions, shows kids how simple experiments can help them better understand the world around them.  Big Book of Science Experiments is available at www.timeforkids.com/science and retailers nationwide.

The 192-page, full-color hardcover book presents fresh and fascinating experiments for kids 8 to 12 to wrap their heads (and hands) around.  The inquiry-based experiments cover aspects of physical, life and earth science, and dovetail with the school science curriculum. Designed to appeal to the most curious children, Big Book of Science Experiments has a generous focus on kid-friendly themes such as explosions (safe ones!), the environment, and the human body.

The intriguing experiments in Big Book of Science Experiments were created by the experts at Mad Science, the world’s leading science enrichment provider.  Each experiment features clear and colorful step-by-step directions, helping children to easily follow the procedure and tips on how each experiment could be used in a science fair.

“Following the success of Super Science Book, we created Big Book of Science Experiments to offer kids a supplement to everything they love about science. Annual science fairs continue to grow in popularity. This book provides a myriad of ideas to bring science directly to your home,” said Bob Der, Editorial Director, TIME For Kids. “We filled the book with incredibly cool experiments for kids to explore in a fun, family-friendly way.”

TIME For Kids’ Big Book of Science Experiments is the must-have book for every hands-on kid!

MY THOUGHTS

My boys loved looking through this book and seeing all the different types of science experiments we can conduct at home.  Not only did the book get the boys excited about having fun with different science experiments, it created a learning experience…..and they didn’t even know it!  I highly recommend this book to parents looking for a fun way for their children to learn about science.  A big thanks goes to Time Home Entertainment and TIME For Kids for this book review opportunity on The Mommy-Files.

Sounds like a great book! My son loves science and I am sure he would love to have this book. Thank you for the review!

  2. OMG! My oldest son would love this book. We just started a cub scout den and this would be great for those meetings when we aren’t sure what to do. 🙂

  3. Like the two ladies before me, I also have a son who would love this! Just yesterday he was asking if we could buy some alum so he could grow crystals in a glass. So inquisitive. This book would be great for him!

Neat books! I did a lot of little experiments when I was little but there was more “winging it” to it.
