My family and I enjoy eating Cheerios and I was really excited when I learned about the new Cheerios SendCheer Campaign.  The Cheerios boxes featuring the SendCheer Campaign have already started hitting shelves in Walmarts throughout the United States.  It is an amazing campaign giving Cheerios consumers the opportunity to thank those serving in the military and their families.  It’s simple!  Just purchase a box of Cheerios and cut out the word “Cheer.”  Behind the word, “Cheer” is a postcard that you can write a personal message on.  Just stick it in the mail and it will arrive in the hands of a military family via a partnership with the USO.

For this project, we had the task of visiting our local Walmart and picking up a box of Cheerios.  At home, we cut out the postcard and then wrote a personal message on it.  Next step was to put a stamp on it and mail it off to a military family via the USO.

This evening, I had the opportunity to participate in a Twitter Party for the SendCheer Campaign and it was amazing to hear so many great ideas and experiences when it came to supporting our members of the military and their families.  This is an amazing thing that General Mills and Walmart are doing to partner with the USO and show our love and support to members of the military and their families.  Not to mention it’s simple!

I don’t know any members of the military or their families who live close to me, but if I did, they would be spoiled!  I “adopted” a soldier in Afghanistan once and it was an amazing experience!  I put together a few care packages for him and even emailed him a number of times.  It was amazing what a big impact such a small act made.  If I could do more, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

Not only can you make a difference in the life of a member of the military or his or her family, but you could also make a difference in your family’s life.  Get them involved and have them draw pictures or write their own personal messages on the postcards.  If you know of a military family near you, put together a care package or bake them some goodies and deliver them with thanks and support.

So, be sure to keep an eye out for these special Cheerios displays at your local Walmart and pick up a box today!
