The Itsy Bitsy Spider went up the water spout; down came the rain and washed the spider out…… I remember singing this and other nursery rhymes when I was younger and this is definitely something I want to share with my 3 little guys!  Does your little one like to sing and dance?  If so, invite him to sing and dance along to his favorite nursery rhymes with the Nursery Rhyme Singing Time with Mother Goose Club DVD.  Nominated for 14 Midsouth EMMY awards and featured on PBS stations, these 1-minute education programs help to develop reading readiness, enrich minds, and enhance speech skills.  Packed with music, color, and live-action episodes starring the Mother Goose Club characters, kids will sing, clap, and dance their way to learning words and sounds.  The DVD was created by a mom, and designed by educators.

On The Mommy-Files, we had the opportunity to review the following:  Nursery Rhyme Singing Time with Mother Goose Club DVD ($15.00); Mother Goose Club Sings Nursery Rhymes Vol.1 & Vol. 2 CD Pack ($17.00); and Nursery Rhyme Coloring Time Book ($5.00).

ABOUT THE DVD

TV time becomes learning time with PBS favorite and Midsouth EMMY nominated Mother Goose Club.  Children ages 2 and up can enjoy singing and dancing along to favorite nursery rhymes, and learn all about rhyming words.  The live-action series features 40 minutes of uninterrupted nursery rhyme fun and six colorful characters from the Mother Goose world: Teddy Bear, Jack B. Nimble, Little Bo Peep, Baa Baa Sheep, Mary Quite Contrary, and Eep Mouse.

Early childhood research has shown that familiarity with nursery rhymes helps young children learn to read.  When preschoolers read, recite, sing or clap along to rhymes, they develop a feel for the sounds and structures of language, the first step in becoming successful readers.  Mother Goose rhymes also introduce children to characters, drama, simple story structure and a host of new vocabulary words, all building blocks for early literacy.  Perhaps most importantly, children are delighted by the singing, clapping, and finger play in nursery rhymes, and learn to associate words and verse with joy, laying the foundation for a lasting enthusiasm for reading.

MY THOUGHTS

My boys enjoyed listening to the CDs and the different songs on them.  They sang along to the songs they knew and learned the words to songs they didn’t know.  I even found myself singing along.  The DVD is especially good for the younger ones, who love the music, dancing, and colors that are featured.  The Mother Goose Club offers some great products and I am so glad I had the opportunity to work with them!  A big thanks goes to The Mother Goose Club and Team Mom for this review opportunity!
