I remember going to see Circus Vargas when I was a little kid.  There were clowns, elephants, tigers, jugglers, and so much more.  I haven’t been to the Circus since I lived in Southern California and was in elementary school……and that was a long time ago.  I was excited to receive an email announcing the return of Circus Vargas to the Central Coast!  Sweet – my kids have never been to the Circus!  They’ve seen it in Dumbo, in cartoons on television, or read about it in books, but never actually EXPERIENCED it, so I am super excited to have the opportunity to take them!

CIRCUS VARGAS RETURNS TO THE CENTRAL COAST WITH AN ALL-NEW SHOW

Circus Vargas, America’s Favorite Big Top Circus, is bringing the Big One back to the Central Coast, with big heart, big laughs, big talent, and big FUN!  This is only some of what you’ll experience when Circus Vargas comes to town, pitching its beautiful blue and gold Big Top, as seen in the recent 20th Century Fox Home motion picture “Water for Elephants.”  The show was recently in Santa Barbara at the Earl Warren Showgrounds and will be in Ventura at the Ventura County Fairgrounds from June 23 through June 27 and then San Luis Obispo at the Madonna Inn from June 30 through July 4.

Striving to present the finest in family entertainment, Tabares Entertainment proudly presents an entirely new production of Circus Vargas for 2011.  This edition of Circus Vargas takes you on an artistic journey, encompassing the cultures of the world, in a series of vignettes depicting the experiences, memories and visions of a traveling circus performer.  Join us on a captivating jaunt across the globe, seen through the eyes of our talented aerialists, acrobats, comedians and more, as they transcend language, age and cultural barriers, through the art of circus.

Thirty minutes before show time, fans will get an exciting pre-show peek into the world of Circus Vargas, hosted by reality TV personal the CBS show The Amazing Race, Mr. Jon Weiss!  He will be front and center welcoming the audience and inviting children to take a “center stage” look at life under the Big Top!  Everyone is encouraged to participate in the pre-show action, and to join Jon as he guides them on a quick crash course in circus skills and stamina!

BACKGROUND OF CIRCUS VARGAS

In 1969, Clifford E. Vargas fulfilled his childhood dream when he raised the canvas of what was to become “Americas favorite Big Top Circus!”  As a lifelong circus spectator and fan, Vargas believed he could bring back the glamour, thrills and excitement of the time-honored, authentic tented circus.  He was adamant that “a circus just wasn’t a circus if it wasn’t under the Big Top” and he wanted to make sure that every generation would have the opportunity to experience the magic of the Big Top firsthand.

“We are extremely proud to be presenting an all-new show for 2011!  And we are aware that the first thing that comes to mind when the public hears the circus is coming to town is the tent!  The magic, the ambience, the feeling you get when you walk into the Big Top is incomparable.  It makes Circus Vargas what it was meant to be – true to its heritage and to its tradition,” states Katya Quiroga, owner and producer of Circus Vargas.

The “Star” of Circus Vargas was hand-made in Milan, Italy, and is one of the most state-of-the-art Big Top tents in use today.  This theater-style tent comfortably seats 1,200 people and consists of 90,000 square feet of canvas fabric.  It is supported by 500 individually placed stakes and over four miles of rope and cable weighing over 17 tons.  Each set-up day, at the crack of dawn, 20 men start the seven-hour process of raising the Big Top, and each tear-down night, by the light of the moon, the same 20 men roll the tent up and pack it carefully to travel to the next town, where the process begins anew.

**The Tent Raising at The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, California will be on June 30th, 2011 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm**

I love the circus and have been looking for fun things to take my kids to. My husband is very busy with his job, and I’ve realized I don’t want to let life pass us by. It’s becoming important for me to do things with my kids instead of waiting around…they need good, fun memories and experiences! Probably one of favorite memories of my dad was when he took us to the circus.

I absolutely love the circus! My Mom used to take my brother and I when we were little whenever it came to town! It is one good memory of my Mom, as we don’t talk much. I would love to take my son. He has special needs and has never been to the circus. I want to take him but i am worried things may be a bit much for him. I would hate to take him and he freak out and we all have to leave. I would love to be able for enough people to go with me that someone could take him outside to calm down. He might really enjoy it! He loves music and loves to talk about what is going on around him. I know this comment is long but this really means a lot to me. 🙂

The last time I was at the circus, it was a little tiny circus where not much was going on…. It was kind of sad. I don’t remember the name of it, but I remember the tightrope walker and how breathtaking that was and feeling terrified … exhilerating… I love the circus

I feel guilty that my 10yr old hasn’t ever been to a circus. We went every year when I was a kid and I LOVED it. My younger sis & I even insisted on staying at CircusCircus when visiting NV relatives, because we could get clown noses with our face paintings, cotton candy & watch the acts, just like at the circus. I loved the trapeeze artists best and the horseback acrobatics!
