Celebrate National Dairy Month with a Family Picnic
In our home, we consume a lot of dairy products each month! We go through a lot of milk, cheese, eggs, and yogurt. My boys love to drink milk with meals and eat cheese and yogurt for snacks. I was thrilled when I was invited to participate in the National Dairy Month Campaign with Safeway and affiliate stores. I was given the task of incorporating some of our favorite dairy products into a picnic. I had a blast putting it together and my family enjoyed it as well.
For the main dish, I made egg salad sandwiches on Buttermilk Bread. I also made Ranch dressing, using sour cream and Ranch Dressing mix, to eat with fresh baby carrots. The boys also enjoyed Gogurts with their meal. For dessert, I made “Dirt in a Cup,” which consists of chocolate pudding, whipped cream, crushed Oreos, and gummy worms. It was an amazing picnic!
I encourage you to create your own picnic featuring your favorite dairy items during June, which is National Dairy Month. Not only will you be feeding your family healthy food, but you’ll also be making family memories that will last a lifetime!
Be sure to follow the conversations at #SafewayDairy for more information and stories about National Dairy Month!

How cute are you! I love the dirt cups!
Great family picnic–everything looked yummy!
Love that ‘Dirt in a Cup’. Such a great idea for a kids party too. A friend of mine recently made this as a birthday cake, she used chocolate cake and pudding in a large glass bowl and added worms to it. I’d never heard of this before, I must have been living under a rock :). My kids would love this.
What a great family picnic! The Dirt in a Cup idea is awesome.
Loved the dirt cups!
Dirt is A Cup is great! It allows non-bakers like myself feel like we are doing something awesome!
I love freezing Gogurts and putting them in the kids lunchboxes. By lunch time, they are defrosted, but a great cold treat!
GAH I’m a dairy monster. I go through a gallon of milk in two days…in fact this post made me thirsty…
I’m a dairy monster too! haha. Great ideas! And I love the freezing the Gogurt comment someone made. Great idea.
A fun review! I love the egg salad sandwiches — one of my faves! Of course, the Dirt in a Cup was pretty cool as well!

My son is a dairy monster. He drinks 5 glasses of milk a day and loves yogurt too!
Interesting event – to participate in the National Dairy Month Campaign. I want to know more about how it goes. What activites and games for children can you recommend for children and adults?
