Pictured above are the contents that come in the box.  Be sure to open the box carefully, as the directions and ideas for decorating the cookies are on the inside of the box.

The first thing you want to do is set up your decorating bags.  There are two tips and two disposable decorating bags.  Put the tip in the bottom of the bag and trim the bag, so that 1/2″ of the tip is pushed out of the bottom of the bag.  Set the bags to the side.

Next, you want to make the White and Pink Icing.  First, you’ll cream 2 tablespoons of butter in a bowl.  I used a hand mixer.  You’ll notice that the butter spreads around the bottom of the bowl, but this is ok because it will all mix together once you add the icing powder and the milk.  The directions call for 1/2 to 1 tablespoon milk, whipping cream, or water.  I used 1 tablespoon of milk and think that 1/2 tablespoon may have been enough.  If you are not using it right away, be sure to drape a damp, but not dripping, paper towel over the bowl to prevent the icing from hardening.

Next, fill the bags with the pink icing and the white icing and start putting the cookies together.  I placed the cookies on a paper towel to reduce the mess.

Included are 20 pre-baked, heart-shaped cookies.  Spread the cookies out and fill the middle of one with icing (your choice of pink or white).  Place the lollipop stick in the middle of the cookie.  I added more icing on top of the lollipop stick as well to help hold the cookies together.  Now it’s time to decorate!

Get creative!  Don’t feel like you have to follow the designs on the box, but you can definitely use them as a starting point and go from there.  Let the cookies dry for a few hours, if not overnight.  As they sit out, the icing will harden, which will make putting them in the bags less messy.

Once the Heart Pops are dried, place them gently in the provided plastic bags and close with the self-sealing gift stickers.  Add a personal saying to your Heart Pop and give them to family and friends….or keep them and eat them yourself.

MY THOUGHTS

I had so much fun decorating the Heart Cookie Pops.  I love that the cookies were pre-baked and that all I had to do was mix together the powdered icing, milk, and butter.  I love that directions and decorating ideas were provided with the kit.  It was a lot of fun and definitely got me in the mood for Valentine’s Day!  Thank you Wilton for a product that really got my creative juices going!

I am backtracking to see some of your older reviews. this Wilton product is something I have never seen before! I hope they offer these for the Christmas holiday and others too. I have an aversion to doing cut outs…I have made SO many in my life as a mom and can never get them JUST RIGHT. So I also sure do appreciate the ready made cookies. I am thinking this would be easy to make from other cookies too and get the sticks from Wilton? Very cute and tasty idea, especially to gift in little bags individually. They look SO professional!
