Back in March, I served as a Rice Krispies Ambassador and created a Springtime Treat on The Mommy-Files!  I was excited when The Motherhood asked me to participate in a Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Holiday Recipe Box Challenge.  I, along with 30 other bloggers (Rice Krispies Brand Ambassadors) were asked to create our own unique Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats squares “show stopper” recipe using Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal and any other ingredients of our choice.  I was super excited and spent quite a bit of time trying to create something I didn’t think another blogger would create.  I made a Rice Krispies Treats Christmas Tree!  It was easy and so much fun!

Rice Krispies Treats Christmas Tree

3 tablespoons butter
1 package Miniature Marshmallows
6 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Cereal
Green Food Coloring
Tree Pan
Glitter Gel (red, green, yellow, and silver)
Plain Holiday M&Ms (red and green)

1 – In a pot, melt the butter.  Once butter is melted, add the marshmallows.  Stir consistently.

2 – Once marshmallows are melted, add Green Food Coloring.  I used a black spoon to stir to prevent staining of the spoon.

3 – Butter the inside of the Tree Cake Pan.  I then spread the butter with my fingers to be sure the pan was covered evenly.

4 – Add Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Cereal and stir, until evenly coated.

5 – Spoon mixture into cake pan.

6 – Use buttered spatula or spoon to press down mixture so that the surface is even and the tree molds to the pan.

7 – Once cooled off (about an hour or so), take a spatula and go around the inside edge of the pan to help release the tree.  Once you’ve gone around and loosened it up, lift up the bottom portion and slide your hand under, gently removing the tree from the pan.

8 – Place the tree on foil and decorate.  Use yellow for the star and red and silver for the garland.

9 – Affix the candies with glitter gel or icing.  Add a miniature chocolate bar for the tree trunk.

Set on a holiday platter, dig in, and enjoy!
