Halloween is a fun holiday we celebrate in our family and I was excited to have the opportunity to review the Pre-Baked Halloween Cookie House Kit by Wilton.  Once the house was put together, the boys had a great time decorating it.  You can either eat it or set it out as a decoration in your home.  The Gingerbread Halloween House Kit can be purchased in stores or online, retailing for $16.49.

Description from Wilton Site:  Easy to assemble and fun to decorate—it’s the ideal family activity for Halloween. Includes 10 pre-baked gingerbread house pieces (assembled house measures 7 ¾ x 4 x 8 ½ in. high), orange and black decorating icing mixes, 1 ghost icing decoration, colorful candy (purple and orange mini round candies, jelly beans and candy corn), 2 decorating tips, 2 disposable decorating bags, cardboard base, complete assembly and decorating instructions.

I really had a lot of fun decorating the house with my boys, but it was a lot of work and frustration putting the actual gingerbread house together.  I didn’t have jars to hold the walls together, so got creative and went through the cupboards, pulling out cans of Raviolis and Green Beans to hold up the walls until the icing dried.

I was able to get the house to stick together and then found I had made a mess with the icing dripping down the sides of the house.  So, I got creative and decided to ice the entire Gingerbread House!  It actually turned out pretty cute with the orange icing on it.  Once the door and windows were outlined, the boys were ready to start decorating with the candy corn, jelly beans, and orange and purple candies.

It is by no means professional looking, but looks homemade, which is what Wilton is all about.  I look forward to decorating the Christmas Gingerbread House and showing you our creation on The Mommy-Files.  However, I do have to say, that I would be willing to pay extra money to have the pre-assembled version in the future.

Thank you for a fun Halloween activity Wilton!

I received samples from Wilton to facilitate this review.  All opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.

Oh, forgot to say, I love Wilton cake pans! The kind with shapes. Such a variety. I bought my daughter the giant cupcake one and she has used it several times now. Fits so many occasions!
