Yes….Featured Blogger Friday is back!!! It’s been a while, but I’m back at it. As a blogger who’s been in the business (lol) for almost 2 years, I love “giving back” by putting other bloggers in the spotlight. It also gives me a chance to get to know other bloggers out there in the ever-growing blogosphere! Today, I’m excited to feature In Through the Out Door!

What made you choose the name of your blog?

My dad is a HUGE Led Zeppelin fan, so growing up, their music was always a huge part of my life.  “In Through The Out Door” is one of their best albums, and it is so representative of my life-I’ve always felt that I’ve done things backwards, in the most difficult way, always going in through the out door, but ending up right where I needed to be.

Who designed your blog?

My header was designed by my best friend and incredible graphic designer, Heather Guttormsen of Heather Guttormsen Designs (www.heatgraphix.com), my background is used with permission and much appreciation to Shabby Blogs (www.shabbyblogs.com) and the rest I’ve figured out myself, with many late nights and lots of cursing!

What do you love about blogging?

I love that I have my very own space to say whatever I want.  I’m not very good at speaking my mind or standing up for myself in my everyday life, so having this outlet is amazing.  Also, being able to pour my heart out and get advice, reactions, and just love from my readers and friends has changed my life forever.

What is the purpose of your blog?

Cheap therapy?  Ha.  It allows me to work on becoming a better writer, and work through feelings and situations in my own way.  And if I can make someone laugh or touch someone in the process, all the better.

Do you have any blogging tips (i.e. from those getting started to those who have been blogging longer than you)?

The #1 piece of advice (heck, the only piece of advice) I have is be yourself.  I was so worried in the beginning that I might offend someone or hurt someone’s feelings or that people would think less of me if I shared EXACTLY who I am and what is on my mind.  I found that the more real I was, the better response I received.  Lay it all out there-just be you.

Are you married?  If so, how long?

My husband, the adorable Mr. Floren, and I have been married for almost four years.  And our youngest daughter is almost four years old.  The older one is 5 1/2.  You can do the math:)

Do you have children?  If so, how many?

The two I mentioned above:  The Curly Haired One is my sweet kindergartener, and The Little One is my adorable preschooler.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

Pretty Woman.  “You people work on commission, right?”  “Yeah.”  “Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.”

Who is your favorite actor?

McDreamy.  We have a thing, you know.

What is your favorite dessert?

Cheesecake.  Of any variety, really.

What is your favorite holiday?

Christmas.  I’m an elf…I LOVE giving presents.

If you were on a deserted island by yourself, what are 2 things you would have?

My phone (thank goodness for Google Mobile Reader) and my hubs.  Sorry kiddos, I’ll miss you.  Don’t worry, I chose good godparents for you.

And of course, you know me, there has to be a chocolate question.  What is your favorite candy bar?

I’m not much of a candy person, but I will make out with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups anywhere, anytime!

  1. I completely agree that blogging is therapy and I loved your answer about what/who you would want on the deserted island with you – too funny!
    Glad to meet you.
