My kids love imaginary play…whether it’s being a superhero or an astronaut!  I was excited to have the opportunity to review the Shuttle Imagination Playhouse from KidsCraft.  The boys really liked playing in the Shuttle and spent a few hours playing astronauts.

Kids love to play with cardboard box playhouses, however, unless you’ve recently purchased a large appliance, you probably don’t have one lying around the house.  If you do have a cardboard box, you’ll have to spend a lot of energy and time cutting holes in it.  This is where KidsCraft Playhouses offer an easy solution for you.  KidsCraft Playhouses creates cardboard playhouses from 100% recycled materials, using an ingenious flap and slot design so no cutting or taping is needed.  Plus, each playhouse is designed to comfortably fit 2-3 children, so it’s sure to be a hit in your neighborhood.

Two dads and a grandfather from Atlanta got a first hand look at how the cardboard box captures a child’s way of thinking.  While packing up their financial services business, moving from one office to another, their kids came along.  Although the fathers brought along coloring books and crayons for the 3 to 7 year olds, it was actually the empty cardboard boxes that held their attention.  This sparked the idea for Crafty Kids Playhouses.

The Playhouses are made of 100% recycled material and made in the USA, with two sturdy designs available online and at select specialty retailers.  The Shuttle Imagination, a large spaceship and the Creation Cottage, a playhouse, are designed so that there is no need for cutting, taping, or measuring.  The flaps and slots are specifically designed and pre-cut for easy assembly and will withstand many hours of play.

The exteriors of the playhouses are blank white so that kids can color and decorate them as much as they please.  Plus, if you order online, you’ll also receive a free 8-pack of crayons.  These aren’t just ordinary crayons – they’re 100% recycled from unwanted crayons.

The Creation Cottage • $59.95

Indoors or out, this pint size cottage is a perfect playroom for solo play or for the neighborhood gang. Made from 100% recycled materials, the unique design allows for a sturdy drawing surface for tykes. The white exterior is a blank canvas designed to inspire the imagination and creation from little Picassos. Five windows and a door make for fun peek-a-boo play. The Creation Cottage comes with a promotional offer for free recycled crayons that are made in the U.S. The Creation Cottage measures 42”L x 39”W x 54”H.

Shuttle Imagination • $69.95

For out-of-this-world imagination, the space shuttle can take kids on a new adventure every day! Made of 100% recycled materials, the unique design allows for a sturdy drawing surface. Double bay doors and two portholes add a dimension of fun. Color the shuttle’s surface to show where you will travel or what discoveries you’ve already made! The Shuttle Imagination comes with a promotional offer for free recycled crayons that are made in the U.S. The Shuttle Imagination measures 39”L x 34”W x 72”H. Fin attachments are 12” long.

“As a parent of twin 5-year-old girls, I can say I love the playhouse. It was indestructible and the girls had loads of fun coloring it and climbing on it. I was shocked that nothing tore or ripped! It was very cool.”  (Bean Head Toys customer, Sandy Springs, GA)

“The parents were quite impressed with the sturdiness of the house, the creativity of the design which included the sunburst and the chimney, and the size seemed to be just right. They all were excited for this product to hit the market in the spring along with the shuttle and definitely thought it kept the kids busy and engaged.”  (Bean Head Toys owner Chris Lowe)

MY THOUGHTS

My boys enjoyed playing with the Shuttle Imagination Playhouse, but it was quite large for the space we were living in.  However, it is definitely ideal if you have a playroom or a large child’s room.  I think it’s a great idea that the outside is blank so the kids can decorate it.  Check it out today!

I received a Shuttle Imagination Playhouse from Crafty Kids Playhouses to facilitate this review.  All opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.

  1. Those are so adorable, what a great idea – I know my boys always loved to play with the boxes of any big toy they ever received.
I’m sure your boys loved their rocket ship.

I ordered the cottage for my kids and shuttle for a gift through their website. Mine took almost a month to arrive. The gift NEVER arrived. I am horrified by this company’s service. I am still fighting them 3 months later for my money back. The product itself is great. There must be another company that offers something similar with better service. I think I just saw it offered on amazon at a discount.
