Many parents turn to Walmart for Easter goodies and festivities.  I learned some really interesting things about Easter purchases according to Walmart statistics.  Did you know that 40 percent of Walmart moms say they’d like to invite a friend or neighbor to celebrate the Easter holiday with their family.  This year, Walmart helped moms stretch their dollar to get all the Easter essentials they needed while inviting all the guests they wanted.

– According to the National Retail Federation, Americans on average expect to spend $118.60 this year on food this Easter, with $17.92 going to candy alone.

–  The weight of all the Hershey candy sold at Walmart during the Easter season will equal the equivalent of 35 Big Boy locomotives, the heaviest steam locomotives ever built.

If you were to line up all the Hershey’s packaged candy Walmart will sell over Easter end to end, it would reach from Bentonville, Arkansas to Los Angeles, California… and then all the way back.

Walmart will sell over 12 million bunnies this year for Easter. In a survey done by the National Confectioners Association, 76% of people were found to eat the ears on chocolate bunnies first.

If you were to combine all the Reese’s 6-ounce peanut butter eggs boxes that will be sold at Walmart into one giant Reese’s Egg box, it would end up being the height of a 5- story building, 30 feet wide, and 30 feet deep.

Walmart will sell 4.9 million pounds of Easter M&M’s this year.  That is 2 billion individual M&M’s laid end to end.  The M&M’s would stretch 16,000 miles

Easter Island in the South Pacific is the world’s most isolated inhabited island.  If you laid the 2 billion Easter M&M’s end to end, they would stretch from Bentonville Arkansas to Easter Island, and back again!

Easter Island is famous for its giant, mysterious statues.  Those statues weigh 14 tons each.  The nearly 5 million pounds of Easter M&M’s that Walmart will sell this year will weigh the same as 175 Easter Island statues!
The 16,000 miles of Easter M&M’s would circle the 63 square miles of Easter Island 378 times!
