I remember owning plenty of dolls when I was a child.  I loved the girl dolls especially – with their dresses and long hair.  I recently had the opportunity to review Adorable Kinders.  They are adorable!  Oh man, if I had a little girl, I’m sure we would own a few of these precious dolls.  We received Mari and she is so adorable! I love her beautiful, long brown hair and her adorable red dress and matching red shoes. She is soft and easy to hug!

Granza, Inc. manufactures these adorable rag dolls. Adorable Kinders are based on a diverse group of kindergarten friends and includes 26 multicultural 18″ rag dolls – one for each letter of the alphabet (ranging from Alise to Zachary). Two of the most popular dolls are Mari and Alise. Each doll comes in beautifully detailed removable clothing, as well as an internet key-code to access the Adorable Kinders eSchool online.

Each doll is designed for durabilty, as well as safety and comfort. The doll is made 100% soft cloth, with no hard or plastic parts, making it perfect to sleep with at naptime or bedtime. Each one is stuffed with non-allergenic 100% polyester Each doll weighs less than 2 pounds, so it’s easy for you little one to tote around.  The doll comes with a colorful, removable outfit including separate underwear, socks, and shoes with super-soft yarn hair.  All dolls and their clothes are washable.  The dolls are ideal for ages 2 and up.  They retail for $59.99 each.

The classic look of the Adorable Kinders has been recognized and they have already won seven of the top toy industry awards in 2009, including being named to Dr. Toy’s 10 Best Toys of 2009 List and earning a NAPPA Gold Award. The Toy Man gave the Adorable Kinders four awards. Here is what he had to say:

“Every detail of this rag doll demonstrates a design with a meticulous effort. What I personally found most captivating with Mari, (the sample submitted to us), was how Mari had such an exquisite level of detail in every facet of her design. This was especially so with the dress and other garments which Mari was so proud to wear. As people held Mari, they were literally captivated by the charisma which she seems to exude. She wasn’t just a rag doll to them, rather, Mari was seen as seen as so much more; a potential educational tool and friend for their children.”

In addition to the dolls are the Adorable Kinders Accessories, ranging in price from $8.99 to $59.99.  Is it your Kinders first day of school or maybe it’s time for bed?  Maybe it’s a holiday party?  You’ll love the variety of the Adorable Kinders outfits available for every major event.  Accessories include dress-up outfits, pajamas, shoes, clothes hangers, and more.

With each doll comes an internet code for the AK eSchool, which is full of fun activities to help develope your child’s computer, reading, and problem-solving skills.  School starts at the Kindergarten level and includes challenges involving letters, numbers, patterns, and rhymes.  When these are mastered, your child moves to the next level in the eSchool.  Each grade level presents harder challenges.

There are additional activities outside of eSchool on the site.  Your child choose from the 26 Adorable Kinders characters and play house with them, create a printable greeting card or sticker sheet using their favorite Adorable Kinders doll, or have fun coloring on a digital coloring page.

The history behind the Adorable Kinders makes it even more special.  The Adorable Kinders is where it is today thanks to a mother’s desire to fulfill her late son’s dream.  Aranza Zamora-Goodenbury began hand-making rag dolls at age 16 in her native Puerto Rican home.  They became a hit (as you can imagine) and she began making them regularly, each one turning out better than the last one.  Motherhood and other careers began occupying the time she was using to make the dolls, although she still made them in her spare time.  She became interested in creating a line of rag dolls and computer games based on her dolls.  It wasn’t until her son Ivan got involved that the idea took off and the two of them began working on the product full-time.

MY THOUGHTS

I think this is an amazing product with a special history behind the company.  I’m an adult and absolutely loved these adorable rag dolls.  These dolls are so easy to fall in love with, as they are to hug.  I also love the gorgeous outfits, the fact that the doll and clothing is washable, and that the product is created here in the U.S.

I received a sample from Adorable Kinders to facilitate this review.  All opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.

These dolls are adorable. I like the doll called Faith on their site. I only wish you could actually search by ethnicity, skin tone, or hair color. Faith is the only one that I was certain of that had red hair. Wasn’t sure on the others. As we’re a family of redheads here, I would want red hair on my girls’ dolls. And it would help to have two different type dolls with red hair.

  5. Kathy says:

For Badger Mom, Faith does not have red hair. Rena and Christy do. Faith’s hair is brown. I hope that helps. Also, there’s a boy doll, Xander, with red hair.
